So many years of spy shots and delays... I'll believe it when I see it. I can imagine this will carry a very modern Corvette price tag.

MR is also much more expensive to service, btw

I wonder if there's a ZR1 trim planned on the mid-engine models or not? Will be interesting to see how the cost-to-own compares to previous generations but I expect that the C8 will make a better track car than FR layout samples. I'm sure there will be gobs of reviews from both journalists and enthusiast/tuners by this time next year.

^yea that is one upside of mass produced sports coupes. Niche but affordable used.

At least the 'Vette is still available in delicious full manual (a 7-speed iirc) in this dark age of automatic transmissions and autonomousity

I'm hoping for a C8 manual. The patent info I've seen during the C8 development has me hopeful. It will be a game changer. I love my 7 speed manual Z06/Z07. A manual dual clutch (even if electronic and not mechanical) would be fantastic if it has the same feel.

C8 base will have a 480-500HP LT2 6.2L V8

Z06 to have a twin turbo DOHC V8 - Cadillac is currently producing a 550HP 4.2L TT V8 so we know GM has done the research.

ZR1 to have a 900+HP hybrid awd power train.

Dual clutch auto will be the only transmission offered - no manual.

I had a van with the motor box between the front seats . Even with all the insulation they could use , that was a hot ride , and checking the oil was a real hassle . So even though I can now afford one , no thanks . Besides round here if you get up to 45 on I12 you feel like you have been set free .

The C8 engine will be behind the front seats, infront of the rear axle. We assume they will all be dry sump, you check the oil on a tank somewhere other than at the bottom of the engine block like a normal car. its no cargo van. why even comment?

Mid-engine sports cars don't have their engine between the front seats.

I've owned a couple mid engine cars, and never noticed an increase in heat in the passenger compartment compared to a front engine car.

I am sure that in the C8 there will be a firewall that will prevent heat and fumes/smells from coming into the engine compartment the same s a front engine car. The engine is behind the seat, but not in the "back seat area" any more than the engine of a front engine car is in the front seat area. Both are behind a fire wall sealed off from the passenger compartment.

I have not, though from what I've gathered over the years it's basically Honda maintenance (i.e. not much).

Hmm, yea I've just no experience with Honda V6's or the parts market but I'll probably end up with another S2000 anyway lol. The 86 is great but I sure do miss that snappy little F20. And roadster-ness.

Ya know... they've been hyping this car for so damn long now that I'm starting not to care what it looks like.

Of course, I'm also pissed off at Ford because they've been so damn cagey about the horsepower rating on the new GT500, so don't mind me.
