Just a few hours now.

Between this and Rivian I have a feeling I'm going to be spending some money on cars in the next few years.

Trying to be excited, but it is a new gen Corvette, and it is a GM product. Which means we should expect the first year to have plenty of issues that will need to be fixed during production, and the interior will not only have plenty of plastic, it will still have visible parts in common with models 1/4 of it's price. I hope I am wrong.

That's kinda what you get with a car that punches way above it's weight class in performance for a fraction of the cost. There is not a single car manufacturer that makes 100% model specific components for a car under $200k. Even the fanciest of FCA group cars share common parts with Dodge and they sell plenty of models that are well over $100k.

Just when I get all practical about my cars, they do this. Wouldn't get a first year, but can see a Z06 or whatever they call it down the road.

Reveal was pretty neat, as it should have been seeing as how long the automotive world has been anticipating an official launch.

sub $60k price is fair, as this will likely sell many units in that range and give them time to refine and plan more "high end" models as we're used to. not a fan of GM, but I actually hope they do well with this.

They say the Corvette is the only American car the Germans show up to see at the Nurburgring. Good move going with the dual clutch transmission. I like the look of the new.

Never really wanted a Vette other than the late model ones with huge curves over the tires, just never got one. This car is very interesting. I love the glass over the engine, and about 90 of the looks. I'll be really interested in seeing the other models with more HP and different styling. Not really sure about that wall between the driver and the passenger.

For the money, it's really hard to compete with this. Unlike most super cars, this can be a daily driver, they always have been. Was at the local Maserati dealership getting something done to mine, sat in a new Gran Tourismo. I've been eyeing a used one for a bit, just haven't bit the bullet though. It's new at 140k. It's extremely hard to make a case for it over this new Vette. Styling, rear seats, and name is about all it has going for it Eexhaust note also perhaps. Literally every thing else is likely to be better on this new Vette.

Waiting for reviews, but just a really impressive feat and looks. Screw old timers who don't like a mid engine car.

I missed the reveal since I'm on vacation. The car looks fantastic. Can't wait for the Z06.

Super excited about the C8! New DCT transmission sounds amazing. GM claims it can rip off shifts so quickly it doesn't even register on a 100hz data logger and they expect sub 3-sec 0-60's with the base Stingray. Looking forward to seeing some full reviews.

Wish I had enough free cash to pick up a fire sale c7. There are going to be some awesome deals on those now.

My only complaint is the same one I had with the C7 -- too much black plastic trim. And that plastic triangle on the b-pillar, blech. Otherwise damned awesome.

I'm kind of concerned about the cup holders. Will the top of the SuperPiggyGulp press against the button rail?

Also, while I appreciate how powerful the engine is, aren't turbos more or less standard in modern cars?

No denying it: that's a hot car.

I imagine it'll put some massive pressure on pricey supercars that don't move a lot of units, like the R8 and the NSX.

I've owned a couple mid engine cars, and never noticed an increase in heat in the passenger compartment compared to a front engine car.

My Elise begs to differ
But there the real issue is that cooling happens at the front of the car, so hot water circulates around the aluminium bathtub in which you're sitting.
But yes, engine heat in the cockpit is certainly an issue

But I expect that all modern cars, with their tons of NVH/thermal insulation will be very much different to a car that spiritually comes straight from the early 70s...
