holy crap the level of deception in that link is ridiculous.

What are the deceptions? There are factual evaluations as well as experts' predictions, not all of them rosy. For example, there are forecast as to which states' insurance costs will likely rise. (with maps)

Can you rebut the "deception" with facts and logic, or is your "holy crap.." assertion blurted out of your gut feeling (which is all too common on this board from what I've observed)?

That's a fair amount of drama and I sincerely hope putting it in writing makes you feel better. Maybe you're becoming more politically aware or maybe you don't have enough years under your belt but all you're seeing are the typical swings of the political pendulum.

You're seeing our political process as it pertains to elections in action. In this case Obama is the catalyst. One man holding one office bringing down his entire party. But the run from one party being in power to the other party is the normal course of business. I'm not hearing these promises from Republicans you're speaking of, I'm hearing nothing at all. I'm not hearing an agenda, I'm not hearing a plan. They've taken the easy way out and are running as not being Democrats and in this election that's all that's required.

It will eventually come to pass that Republicans will be seen as the purveyor's of all that is bad and the pendulum will swing again. And you will survive their reign as all have survived the reign of Obama. But, having said that, I do see us as getting closer with every passing year to the abyss. When we fall off of it, the last thing anyone is going to have to worry about in the immediacy is who is to blame. That will come much later.

Anyway, there is a lesson to be learned. You can't just put someone into the office of the highest position in the land that doesn't have the credentials for it. There's more to the job than bloviating. If we put another individual in with a manufactured past with no documentation to back up even meager accomplishments solely because of gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation, we will face that abyss that much earlier. I'm fully confident that far too many have learned nothing from this grand experiment centered around a man who currently goes by the name of Barack Obama.

IYO - Who was the last person who had them?

As for this thread people also seem to like losing 800K jobs/month vs gaining 100-200K

...tripe.

I'm 54 fucking years old and have been voting since I was 18. I'm an independent voter and have voted for D's and R's all of my life until recently. I AM very politically aware and don't need any advice from geniuses who don't have a fucking clue what is going on. The Republican party is insane, full stop. We need to let them destroy themselves and fix this mess that they and the complicit Democrats have allowed to happen.

You've got to hit rock bottom before you can start to climb out of the hole.

Don't worry, the deafening silence will be over tomorrow. This should be interesting.

Obama has been a lame duck president for 2 years.

I figure after Tuesday, he is going to be a roasted duck.

Regardless of which party wins, I figure the government will not do anything for the next 2 years. obama has turned into a toxic president. Even democrats are distancing themselves from him. Young voter lost faith in his ability to lead. People have realized obama is nothing more than a talker. He never had any kind of leadership ability to start with.

I doubt we see any kind of major legislation passed until after obama leaves office.

If Republicans take the Senate, they will need to be very intelligent and careful about the legislation they pass. They can set themselves up for an easy win in 2016 if they play this correctly.

With the way obama is going, he is going to hand republicans the oval office polished and gift wrapped.

Example: Someone from the obama adiministration calling Netanyahu chickens**t.

It is amateur hour at the whitehouse and the world is watching.

Well thanks to gas under $3 we went out to dinner last night.

Instead of putting $60+ in the tank it was $43 so the economy got some money instead of the Oil Thugs for a change.
Save a dollar.. spend it right away.

No matter how good a case sportage makes I'm not casting a vote for Obama on the 4th. No way, no how.

you convinced me. I won't either!

also i wouldn't call the economy booming..

I have never thought higher gas was good. I am more excited about $3 (and lower) gas. I now have more money to spend on other goods. stuff i wouldn't have purchased with the $5 gas.

Do you believe for a minute they will? Based on their recent past I'm sure they'll do everything they can to push a very extreme agenda.

Yes...I think mainstream Republicans are evolving and a hell of a lot smarter than you give them credit for.

I wish I could believe that. I think the Tea Party still has too much power and are way too far right. I'd love for some mellowing to come from the GOP.

I think a lot can be accomplished without Reid's blatant obstructionism. I believe there's nearly 400 bills from the House sitting on his desk with the vast majority having bipartisan support.

Dropping gas prices are often a sign of a bad economy.
Try to remember that oil is global. Falling oil prices indicate falling global demand. China's legendary credit bubble just burst and the Bank of Japan is doubling down on hyperinflation, so those are two major causes of declining demand.

I'm voting democrat because they've fixed all of the problems plaguing our society. Mortgage applications have dropped to 14 year lows because everybody already has a house. Labor participation is at 36 year lows because retirement is easier than ever. Roughly 1/2 of the country earns less than $28k/year, which is probably an improvement, but I haven't checked. We're still in the recession that started when the dot com bubble popped, link, so that's not really Obama's fault. Inflating yet another stock market bubble to drive up the net worth of rich people while everyday people see pay cuts and pink slips has contributed to record high wealth inequality in America, but that's not Obama's fault.

item 2: "In many places, premiums will increase less than 10%".
flip that around, premiums will increase more than 10% in most of the country. presenting that as 'evidence' that insurance under ACA is still affordable is fucking ridiculous.

item 5: has health insurance industry been helped or hurt by the ACA?
of course it's been fucking helped. there's suddenly a much higher demand for it now that it's been mandated. Ceterus parabus, that WILL drive up the cost of healthcare and arrive at a new price equillibrium that was higher than the old. The question is is this a good thing? the article presents something that's 'good' for the insurance industry as being 'good'. it doesn't even offer a glimpse of the idea that this might be a bad thing.

item 7: has the law contributed to a slowdown in healthcare spending?
What the fuck is that graph supposed to represent?

it's a hack job designed to present ACA in the best possible light. calling it a reasonable analysis of the law would be completely laughable, if not for idiots believing it. then it's scary.

You mean the 60th repeal the ACA bill or another shutdown the government bill??
