<< Explain to me how a business can make money when a) they do not charge; b) they have to pay massive infrastructure costs; c) they have to pay support reps; >>

What do you think NBC, FOX, etc.. are?

<< d) people like you attempt to use NetZero for more than the initial allocated time. >>

And I click on the links more than other's. So what's your point. Again, I'll ask you the same question
In your computer, are there any MP3s that you don't own the CD to, not legally purchased software, hacks, or any other forum of software that's not 100% legal. Have you ever, borrow and installed oem software from your friend?

Did you read my posts about the TV companies? They can deliver free broadcasting because they MAKE more money from advertisers than they pay to broadcast the shows. Internet companies are making nothing from advertising. How many times do I have to tell you this?

And even if Elemental has illegal, or used illegal software. YOU tried to go past NetZero's limit which you aggreed you wouldn't do. If you want to use the internet past their alloted time, pay for their platinum service.

It was already stated in this thread that network television has big advertisers that will pay alot of money because they are targeting types of viewers who will more more interested in their product than some random internet user.

Why won't you listen to what others are saying?

As stated earlier, the bottom line is that you must pay if you want service of a certain quality.

You know the most amazing thing about this thread? It doesn't take an econ grad to come to grasp with a simple business principle called "BEING PROFITABLE" and a 17 year old like Elemental can come to terms with this yet Super Cyrix, a self-professed philanthropist/professional can't. Hmm...

I think you're carrying on two separate arguments. On one hand, YES, I'd agree that ending anything that was free would suck. However, the notion that Netzero is responsible for the state of the ISP industry is a bit of a stretch don't you think? There are still plenty of ISP's availble on dial-up between 5-10 dollars. People have repeated this idea time and again in this thread but for some reason you cling on to your arguments? Why?

When Netzero first showed up the majority of ISP's ranged between 10-20 bucks and for the most part the industry standard hasn't changed too much--so what exactly has Netzero done? I'm not their fan boy but certainly ISP's like ATT, MSN, AOL, poor business models/lack of revenue on the part of ISP's that went under, are just as much to blame for whatever the current state of ISP's are. To blame it on Netzero alone is pretty absurd to say the least.

Btw, I work in West LA and am pretty up to date on the .com's in Pasadena to OC. Which ISP did your friend work for that went under? I'd love to know...

The public library in my town offers free internet access, you just have to go there to use it. Free TV, Radio and internet really never existed anyway, putting up with the banners and ads and limited programming were/are the price you paid/still pay. Regardless of what the ad says, you don't have a "right" to the internet, its a service, just get mommy to pay for it...free internet. Someone has to pay the bills.

I've said this time and time again but cyrix just keeps ignoring it and says he shouldn't have been insulted.

Like I said, the ad market crashed halfway through 2000. The costs for prime time spots in TV does not change year to year; the price for banner ads fell 90%. Haven't you read my posts?

why not just pay for a ISP ??

didn't you pay for dial up service before Netzero ??

If your using the service more than what the Netzero agreement allows you to..

pay for the service.. and get the unlimited.. instead of trying to leech off Netzero's bandwidth for free....

hey, this guy is wasting his valuable time posting on these forums, why don't you go record for the blind more instead of posting here? The way you talk you are not going to convince anyone here of jack $h1t, so obviously you are wasting your time, I think God would want you to do something more productive. haha.

u can use juno for free, with no banner ads either, just don't use their program to connect, connect through dial up networking, but u gotta get your username and password decrypted first to use DUN to connect

I couldnt imagine why someone would risk going to jail (Its easier to catch you than you think) rather than pay 20 bucks a month. But thats just me. I am glad the free ISPs are dying, because it will help mine. I will be offering unlimited access for 16 bucks a month in August just to get some of these customers, so I am glad to see them go
