I know the feeling. We had one cat for nearly 20 years. It was torn in two by two roving dogs one day. Poor kitty.

I have a very close connection with my 17 year old cat. We've been best pals since I was a 5 year old girl (21 now). I will be devastated when he passes. He's the best cat ever.

Cats are far more rewarding and responsive to their humans than people who have never had one might think they are.

Not really. My cats love to hang out with me in whatever room I'm in. They vie for prime lap space. But then, I've always forged a strong relationship with my pets. Relationships are two way streets.

I love cats; I used to follow them around as a kid, learning what it was like to think like a cat.

I would take the ones that had been abused and lay very still, slowly inching up, slowly gaining trust and eventually would bring them in and feed/take care of them.

Today: I'm blindingly allergic to them.

I call cats evil itch inducing fuckers because for me that's what they are. If I'm in a house with a couple of cats I soon start tearing up, clawing my eyes out and wheezing. Now dogs. Dogs I love.

Not really he's 10 and pretty spry. His food is on the bathroom counter off the kitchen but he'll just stand by the door looking forlorn until you walk in behind him. Then he decides ok now I can eat.

Some people have found success with allergy shots.

Yeah it's not so much of an issue that I feel like getting weekly shots If it were a one off cure, or even a regiment of 10 or 20 I'd do it but allergy shots are usually a long term things. I'll just stay away from the evil itch inducing fuckers as much as I can instead
