When Dems first propoed infrastructure to Trump he was only willing to fund 20%
That is because Trump is incompetent and a liar.

But heartland has already been browbeaten into thinking government spending is bad. Even spending which multiplies in the economy and would benefit them.

Those job creators who got all the tax cuts will help them.

In other words how do you first get the heartland away from all the bullshit they've been fed for 30 years by the GOP??
Neglecting them is what got us Trump.

Try convincing them of that.
I don’t think any politician has made an earnest attempt to. Trump told them what they wanted to hear.

Well, using this logic, without the blue areas, you wouldn't have that computer/device you're posting from.
Technically, if it weren’t for WW2, the Navy and NASA, we wouldn’t have the devices we’re posting from.

The heartland needs federal investment to replace the jobs lost to globalization, outsourcing and automation...similar to the investments made just prior to, during and just after WW2.

You mean jobs lost to their choosing to vote for politicians who pick state income tax cuts over everything else, and resulting under-investing in education and infrastructure?
Or jobs lost to their choosing to vote for politicians who spew chauvinistic and bigoted rhetoric and legislation and scare away the kinds of talented young people that their own education systems fail to produce? These are all problems that the federal government needs to give them a handout to fix?

All with the lead of Lee Atwater behind the scenes during Reagan, blowing those racist dog whistles that still bring all the GOP'ers running to the yard. lol.

Heartland's big problem is the incentives are out of whack for Republicans. If they attract talented young people, their states will be better off, but they will also go the way of Colorado or Virginia and stop electing them. The incentive for actual Republican politicians is to do and say crazy stuff to make their states unpalatable to educated and more liberal young people, so they either leave or don't come in the first place. Long term, it's terrible for their states, but good for them.

Dems can't not neglect them when the GOP occupies a blocking position in Congress & State govts. Voting GOP turns the decline of small town America into a self fulfilling prophesy, quite by design.
The GOP accomplished this by focusing on the local government ground game. Howard Dean understood this and tried to move the Democrats in a similar direction, not sure why they abandoned that strategy.

True. Red and blue need each other. Barack Obama said it in 2004, but when he won in 2008 as president and governed, didn't govern like it.

Can't blame McConnell, Boehner, Scalise, Beck for that.

wut?

You talking about "No Compromise Mitch?"

Fuck off, idiot dick burger. You aren't discussing anything. You're just trolling nonsense that doesn't square in any way with observable reality. Seriously, fuck yourself in your worm brain.

Without reading the whole thread, what is up with the deplorables lately?
They seem to use very common themes.

Now this deplorable have all recently spoke about red states feeding blue states, like we'd starve without them.
This has to be a deplorable news thing or propaganda thing.
Just crazy idea. You’ll starve your neighbor and any friends or family in another state.
Blue states aren’t capable of buying food from another source like just about anywhere else in the world.

New flash deplorables, blue states aren’t like Mega City One from Judge Dredd.

Why can't we just admit that we all need each other and move forward? Nope, wedge issues of a social nature hold us back.

And you realize why don't you? Environmentally sustainable dairy farming like was practiced in Wisconsin for decades has been shafted for massively polluting mega-farms that are unbelievably inhumane for the cows and do real damage to the environment.

Couple the inhumane and environmentally damaging practices of California style dairies with massive federal handouts (for frigging mega farms) and tada you win. Screw the environment I guess and screw the cows as well...

We're both from WI. I understand.

Yet another tuck tailov and runsky thread.

Expect a SHIT ton more as the elections near.

Expect the two headed LegendKiller/SP33Demon to resurface and many more mysticjbryd pretending to be Bernie supporter type accounts.

Expect many more I was a Liberal/Democrat before I limped away to the Russian troll farm, too.

The newly woke former Trump supporters continue to #limpaway

Yes, unless of course you want a 2nd Trump term, then by all means go with the condescending approach. It worked so well last time.

Worked well for me financially, since most of my compensation is stock based and Trump tax cuts are basically raiding money from the treasury and passing it on to techie liberals like me. If they want to kill themselves to make political news headlines less pleasant for me for another 4 years, they can knock themselves out. I am just going to read less political news and keep doing my part to help automate away their jobs. If they want to vote to be without a job and without a safety net, I'll be fine either way.

And when our new AI overlords automate you out of your job, what then?

Is he wrong?
And isn't every Trumper in this thread being condescending with their 'if you don't kiss my ass, I'll vote for Trump' line of BS? But somehow they're allowed that, but liberals are 2nd class citizens who better watch their tone, is that it? And finally, since they're going to vote for Trump regardless, why bother?

AI is only going to take lower skilled jobs. If you do repetitive tasks all day, if your job doesn't involve judgment, craft, or skill, then yeah, you're in trouble. That's why senseamp is pointing to the GOP's attacks on education, and to right wing populism in general, as how those people are shooting themselves in the foot.
But you're right on one thing. The world is changing, and AI is going to be a big part of that change. Countries that invest in their workforce's educations will be the winners.
