I wasn't that impressed when i watched it, but that was on a 14.1in laptop screen and not a 14 ft projection screen so it probably coulda been alot scarier in a theatre or at least on TV. I'm not sure about the whole US\UK endings, but the one I saw I didn't like since I don't think the person deserved it. But anyways, I do wonder about why the begining of the movie is there if the persons mental problems are in no way involved. IT seems like the series of events leading up to sighting the "monsters" (car crash & getting stuck in tight space as well as being on medication and the general being lost in a dark uncharted cave with no way out) could easily account for some visual hallucinations etc.

i heard the reason this movie was so good was because the actors, the girls or whatever, never knew what the monsters looked like. that the cave or whatever was actually dark and the only light that was used was from their flashlights/headlamps? they didn't know what the monsters looked like or when they would come out so they were just told to act and things would play along. therefor they were actually scared.
was this true?

Doubt it.

The movie was good because it was a properly constructed horror film. They didn't show anything too horrific until about an hour in. That, and the set designs were good (all caves were constructed scenes).

I think that is correct.

I watched it in theaters after seeing its high ratings on rottentomatoes.
It felt like the average cheesy teen horror flick.

My parents just visited and brought it over to watch on my screen since theirs is still lacking

SPOILER:

So for those that have seen this, the hardest thing I found to believe was that these creatures had lost the ability to see even though they rely apon hunting large mammals outside the cave. Is there any explanation of this?

Scarey movie i'd say.

I don't really like horror, but i'd say it was a good flick overall.

I didn't watch the credits at the ending either, but I'm confident that it was not filmed there. I live in the Appalachian mountains right on the Tennessee/North Carolina border. The mountains in the movie didn't look like our mountains, and the fauna was different from what we have around here. If I had to guess, I would say this was filmed either in Canada, or the western U.S.

Honesty, its not that great........and its not that bad. If you've ever seen 'Wrong Turn', its similar to that. Stupid people getting lost while mutated looking humanoid things start killing them........this one just takes place in a cavern.

Its just a regular horror film with the usual holes.

worth watching if you are in the mood for horror and theres not much else to watch.

**SPOILER**

One thing that I got stuck on was the fact that Juno killing that one chick was a TOTAL ACCIDENT, yet that chick acted like it was on purpose. Her reaction wasn't normal.

Nor is it normal to sneak up on someone who is fighting for their life.

Yeah, that bothered me almost as much as the monsters losing their sense of sight for some reason.

The first hour was really good, great atmosphere and suspense. Then it added monsters like every other horror movie ever made. I think it's a cheap way to make a movie scary. Such a cop-out.

It would have been better if it had been psychological for the entire movie instead of just adding underground demons.

as far as psychological movies go... watch Session Nine.

Was that the one with David Carruso ? If so, thats a really good flick.. I had never even heard of it, I just happened to catch it on HBO one night. Definitely worth a watch if you keep in mind its a str8 to video B flick.

I thought the point was the cave dwellers had lived in darkness for a very long time and they lost vision but had extra sensitive hearing. :shrugs:

Which chick are we complaining about? The one that died or the one that killed Juno? Because the one that killed Juno was probably more bothered by the fact that Juno had an affair with her husband (thus explaining the necklace).

The other one had some right to be upset, and said her reasons, which was that Juno left her there to die. And she obviously had some sympathy for Sarah since she grabbed the necklace and realized what it was.

*more spoilers*

But they hunt large mammals outside the cave to eat as their primary food source?

To Yoyo's original question: Because the movie sucked (in my opinion). Ok, not sucked, but wasn't that good. As a poster above said, mediocre at best.

Even if they had lived in the darkness for so long, the very fact that they were exposed to the surface would have kept them from losing their eyesight. Look at other animals like bats that usually only come out at night. They have much better ways of finding their way around (sonar) and have had longer to evolve away from sight, and yet they still have it.

About the whole chick killing them, yea, she did leave her there to die, but common, she had a pick through the neck and when you're stuck in a cave with monster people and you're fighting for your life, you can't expect people to be completely passionate about what she did. From the acting, you could tell she really really didn't mean to do it. How come the chick with the pick through the neck lived so damn long anyway.

That, and even if I was with someone who fvcked my significant other, I probably wouldn't chop em at the knee to buy myself some time to get away no matter how sure I was that I was almost free. Wait till you're outside before you chop em at the knee and push em back in.

Oh, and these things didn't seem to have a problem taking down a full-grown bear and yet have trouble taking down some women?
