Exactly. You would be surprised with how many women, and some men (especially with the EMO generation), deal with anorexia and/or bulimia. It is really sad. I know a few people that dealt with it. Always spurs from insecurity. At least a few spurred from a guy mistreating them and it carried over.

Oprah is a narcissist, there's plenty of people in the world contributing far more than her but taking less recognition. And then of course she has an ENTIRE magazine that is called "Oprah" with her face plastered all over it. Oh yeah, and she sells out great works of literature like East of Eden, which people suddenly take as god send and rush out to buy the book which has existed for decades, as if it somehow gains more importance with her recommendation. Ugg... she makes me sick.

i kinda admire oprah for the fact that she's got the doube-whammy in america... she's black and she's a woman. she grew up sexually and physically abused for years and she made it through life the harder way. she didn't turn to drugs and didn't become a prostitute and didn't kill herself. instead, she did well in school and made something of herself. now, she's the richest black woman in america (if not the world) and she uses that money to help hundreds of thousands of people.

no, she's not shy about saying what she's doing to help people... i don't think she should, either. i think she SHOULD make a big deal about the good she's doing in life... she's setting an example. people look up to her. if they see stuff she's doing for others, they might want to help, too. you help more people by setting an example for millions of others while you're helping people than just helping people and being too modest about it.

just because women watch the show doesn't mean it's a bad show. grow the fvck up, buttholes...

Sorry, I don't think its a good example to buy 100 self-sufficient women new cars for no apparent reason. That's pointles, showy, and does nothing to better society. Furthermore, if someone needs to watch Oprah in order to feel the need to "help other people" (as ambiguous as that is), something is seriously wrong with their sense of good will. She might as well join Bono and make her own ipod commercial while she's at it.

you don't think that women all over america who've been abused or black girls who are are somewhat poor can't look up to her as being a rich and generous woman? you think that she does that stuff JUST to be showy? she does that stuff to be a better role model and to show that people who go through adversity can rise up and get into a better place in life... so good that you can have so much money that you can give hundreds of thousands of people a better life.

i think you're just an idiot and can't understand why people would look up to her or what oprah could do to make herself a better role model... she uses her money as a tool to help people (not just primarily, but secondarily as well).
