The effect of the DNC on some Bernie supporters

Greetings all,

If you watched the Democratic National Convention on TV you probably didn't notice the effects of the DNC on some, if not many of the Bernie supporters. The 4 day long info-commercial announcing the rolling out of the Democrat's new model, Hillary Rodham Clinton, had a disenchanting effect upon the 45% Bernie delegation.

You probably didn't see the amount of dissent coming from the Bernie crowd throughout the convention, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. If the DNC was about unification of the party, you couldn't tell so by the antics of the program. The chanting and booing, I understand. was not adequately shown by the main stream media.

Fox made sure to highlight the booing. The other channels didn't focus on it like Fox, but there were some pretty popular clips that went viral, most notably Sarah Silverman telling them they were being ridiculous.

The DNC did its best to try to unify the party behind Hillary. Nothing more could have been done to satisfy these people short of just giving the nomination to Bernie which would have been a slap in the face to the many more people who voted for Hillary.

I was a Bernie supporter from the beginning, but lost a lot of respect for him when he went negative against Hillary with unsupported allegations straight from the GOP camp. I was further disappointed when he started pushing policies with bogus numbers. That is another GOP tactic that I despise, and using that type of tactic really tarnished his whole campaign. I still voted for him in the CT primary to make sure my voice was counted as someone who wants Hillary to take us in the direction Bernie is pushing.

Actually Hillary went negative on him first.

Hey zin,
Took me a whole week to get over it. T'was good though, downtown Philly was not what I expected and the people there were as friendly as I've encountered anywhere. I talked to a Republican who stated he was going to vote for Hillary because Drumph was unacceptable to him, and this is before he criticized Kahn. It was unbelievably hot and humid.

I think Sanders is pretty pissed,
Didn't he promise to do anything and his one goal was TO STOP TRUMP?
Yet, Bernie has been pretty quiet since the WikiLeaks scandal thing.
I guess so much for stopping Trump.
Just as my gramps would say, "hell I don't give a damn, let the little brat do what he wants..."
Even if Donald Trump does win, Bernie can still gripe about the top 1% taking all the wealth.

Hi sportage,

Actually, he did endorse Hillary after the WikiLeaks, during the convention and in his address to us. He has continued in this up through yesterday, at least.

People attending the convention tend to be the hardest of the hard core supporters. All in all in recent polls Clinton has about the same level of support from Democrats as Obama had and nobody thought he had alienated people so that seems to be the end of it, no?

Or we can see more FUD spread by malcontents & concern trolls. Life's basic choices remain- Lead, follow, get out of the way or be a whiny attention whore.

I would say for the most part, there are those who are now backing Jill Stein, it is hard to say what percentage of the Bernie peeps have gone this route, but I venture to say at least 10%. I have yet to talk to anyone yet that is now backing Drumph. Me, I have moved on to Hillary with a caveat in my back pocket.

45%? That would be 800 delegates. Are you really that dumb that you think there were 800 delegates revolting on the floor?

It is sort-of ironic, isn't it? Bernie DID without a question a good job to wake-up many people about the un-doings going on in US politics, the corruption, scams, frauds, lies and and fakery. Many of those who "woke-up" had not been politically interested previously (like so many are, who would blame them....) and got interested in (Bernie's) politics because he opened them the eyes for the first time and people realized that changes are needed.

NOW - he wants the same folks joining pretty much the same system they were fighting against.

From a certain point of view I CAN understand those people who reject to vote Clinton since so many (as I see on social media) supported Bernie because of principles...and those principles are now tossed out of the window. (I am NOT blaming Bernie, because there was ultimately no other choice but as said I understand those folks who stick to their principles, even it means going against what Bernie now "officially" says)

Yeah, say what you want about the Berners, the vast majority are thinkers that are not easily sold a packaged, off the line product. Hopefully, enough will stick around to shape the future.

A large portion of the Berners I know have gobbled the GOP propaganda against Hillary hook, line and sinker.

These are the Bernie or bust people. They are not buying what the establishment is selling and have gone to Stein, but that is a lost cause this election cycle. I have noticed that some are repeating unsubstantiated rumors and a few even repeat nonsensical ones.
