I'm addicted to this game and decided to start a thread about it. If you play the game and have some pointers, please post them... or if you need help with a certain part, post away.. Or if you don't have the game, but have heard about it and would like more information about it, ask away. I'm a level 38 right now and I'm going to restart because I killed someone early on in the game who is essential to my quest.

Here's some questions I have pertaining to gameplay...


Where can I find Grand Master's supplies for creating potions... ie. Calcinator, Mortar and Pestle, etc.

Where is the infamous mudcrab located that you can sell things to and has 20,000 drakes?

How do you join the Ashlanders?

Is it possible to create Scrolls like you can potions? If so, how?

I loved the game. Never finished it though. I stopped playing for a while and just sort of forgot about it. I never got back into it.

Yeah, you can bring them back, but that's kinda cheating in my eyes =) Kinda like placing a 30,000 piece of armor at your feet so you can sell it to buy spells or somethin. Besides... starting over has been fun... I found another little "quest" right at the beginning I never knew about, lol. The dead tax collector guy.

Yeah, I don't like those kinds of games because I get sidetracked and then get bored. I need a game with a strong plot that pulls you along.

I've finished the game and the 2 expansion. Oh well I only mean main quests. There are simply too many side quests to find, let alone finish them.

Dunno much about grandmaster stuff. Alchemy isn't my character's skill. I think you could find them easily from mage guild or Telvani house.

I believe one of the talking mudcrad is located somewhere south/SE/SW of Ebonheart.

You will join Ashlander during the mainquest, no need to worry.

Hmmmm....I may have to start playing this again. I've been tossing around several older RPG's and some newer ones to try and find something good to play again. I started this back when it came out, but like others said I just kind of stopped and never got back into it.

I've played it off and on too... I get started and then can't stop for a months or so... then I take a break for a month or two... but now that I know the ins and outs it's kinda easy. There's guides online that tell you how you can finish the game in about 45 minutes... but that's no fun =)

As one addict to another:
1) The master trainer for alchemy sells all of them. She's in one of the old fortress-thingys inhabited by orcs in the NE area of the island.

2) Dunno. Always took stuff to the Scamp and worked through him, as he's easy to reach (straight to your right out the Mages' guild in Caldera, last (big) house on the right)

3)Ashlanders joining is part of the big plot...just follow the stuff w/ Caius and you'll get there, eventually.

4)Scrolls you make like any other magic item...drag an occupied soulstone onto your character icon, select "make a magic item" and choose a piece of paper.

I'm going to start playing this again tomorrow. What class do you guys reccomend? Does it really matter that much?

I like the Dark Elf because their skills are suited equally well for a Mage and a Fighter. However, when I started over, I configured my character based on what I wanted... so the things I use most are my Major and Minor skills. I chose to put Shot Blade as one of my major skills instead of the Long Blade because Short Blades seem to have a higher minimum damage. But it's hard to find training in the Short Blade skill... so you either have to practice, or go search around... I don't think anyone at the Fighter's Guilds in Balmora or Caldera train in the Short Blade skill.
I also chose the birthsign of the Tower, or whatever they call it... cause that Unlock 50 pt. comes in VERY handy early in the game before you buy some good lock unhinging spells or scrolls.

Shade4ever... are you sure you're talking about scrolls? Or enchanting? Do I need a quill and ink well as well as paper to make a scroll?

I created my own cause I wanted to decide what my major and minor skills were.

I just spent over three hours playing this game without even realizing it.

Yes, you should always have weapons... at least a short sword, something light... because some races and some people are resistant to your magic attacks, but very weak to attacks with a weapon. I've had that happen a couple times... blast away at them with a 20 pt. fire spell and it barely dents their health... then I took out my dwarven longsword and hacked him to death with 3 blows.
Well... either carry a weapon, or increase your agility so you can run real fast if you need to =)

(cheat to increase your agility/speed... hit Q and caps lock and run into a corner... then go to bed or to work or school)

I have it, and yes it's a very impressive game but for some reason there wasn't much compelling me to keep playing it until the end. It was probably the game's open-ended nature. Oh well.

But I did have a wood elf thief... I got her to about level 16 before I stopped playing i think.

Or you may get some levitation items and shoot them rains of arrows or fireballs from above. Don't work in Tribunal though
