Inspired by the dubstep thread here, but disappointed with the relative lack of enthusiasm, I figured I'd broaden the scope of our search to include some other genres. There is a TON of great electronic music out there; dubstep is just a small portion of that!

Here's a few of my favorites:

H.U.V.A. Network - Something Heavens
Sort-of a spacey, ambient feel to this track. The buildup is awesome, and the peak is epic.

PANTYRaiD - Our Second Chance
This song is so dark. You can feel the emotion, even without any vocals.

Mt Eden Dubstep - Beautiful Lies
Another ambient track with some eerie female vocals. I'm surprised at how well the dubstep bassline fits.

The Glitch Mob - Drive it Like You Stole It
This song is just so damn catchy. Glitch-hop isn't for everyone, but I love the genre. The production values are excellent in this track.

Trifonic - Parks on Fire
Another ambient song. I definitely get a burning forest vibe Cool video too.

Recommend me some more, guys! Links are appreciated.

Tagged; I'm usually more into industrial, but have been trying to expand into more electronica lately.

I am really into french electro music at the moment. Most people will have heard of daft punk and justice, but they're just the tip of the iceberg.

Midnight Juggernauts remixed by Danger? I just splooged myself.

I was gonna catch Danger opening for Crystal Method a year or so ago and found out right before the show that Danger cancelled. So pissed.

OP, with the exception of the HUVA Network track, all the tracks you linked are dubstep - and none of those are really ambient tracks. HUVA's on Ultimae, which is an excellent label, so if you like them, you'll undoubtedly like more on the label.

Just because a song has bass in it, doesn't make it dubstep. The Trifonic track is very much ambient, and the Glitch Mob is glitch.

That said, nice tracks you listed. I'll definitely be checking out Ultimae.

Eh, dubstep's characteristics are a syncopated/shuffled bassline and wobbly bass. The Trifonic track is more atmospheric, sure, but it's still firmly modern dubstep-flavored drum n bass. The Glitch Mob track is glitchy, but any genre can be glitchy (like glitchy minimal techno), and that track's dubstep signature is unmistakable even if there are elements of electro and crunk in the mix as well. Regardless, Drink the Sea was one of 2010's better electronic albums.

Check out Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music. It's a bit outdated by now and there are a number of incorrectly labeled tracks, but it's about as good a guide to electronica as there is online.

And now, this thread needs some dub techno!
Octal Industries - Arrival.
Echospace - Sunset.
Rhythm & Sound with Tikiman - Jah Rule.
Deepchord - Grandbend.
cv313 - Seconds to Forever.

If you like Glitch Mob you might like Hudson Mohawke. His 2009 album called "Butter" was really good.

I like it. Something really easy to just chill to.

Gigantopithecus, you really know your stuff. Props on the guide, and this second batch of tracks are even better than the first.

Couple more good ones:

INF - Power Moves, Baby
Not really sure how to categorize this one. But it's really good. Altogether too short though.

TV On The Radio - Red Dress (THE GLITCH MOB Remix)
Super catchy. Makes me want to head-bang in my cubicle

Glitch mob come from an LA hip-hop scene. They have more in common with people like Flying Lotus and DJ Shadow than any dubstep producers.

Dubstep is an evolution of 2-step, which was a London based garage style in the late 90s, typified by people like Zed Bias.

Vibrasphere's a great duo, I have all of their CDs except the most recent (Lungs of Life). Bluetech is also top notch, and his latest release is on Interchill, one of my favorite labels. I have all of Entheogenic's CDs too, another great duo.

Are you familiar with Dakini Records? They release music similar to the tracks you linked. Samples:
Makyo - Nourah.
Puff Dragon - Chinese Radio.

You might also like Ishq, a very prolific group. Skyblue.
