Between those two choices, I would get the Gigabyte. The memory bus is only 64 bit, but its GDDR5 5000 so it has ~39% more bandwidth than a card with 128 bit DDR3 1800.

Yep, it is somewhere in between the 640 GT and 650 GTX. (Closer to the GT 640 as far as bandwidth goes though)

A good question would be how much of the 650 GTX's benefit could be had with the 64 Bit GDDR5 versions? Or does a 384 Kepler core GPU really benefit from the whole 128 bit GDDR5 bandwidth?

Left 4 Dead wasn't tested at 1280 x 1024, so here are the 1680 x 1050 results:

GT 430 beats the HD 5570 DDR3 on 4 out of 9 games (although it was only one game where the GT 430 won by a good sized margin. This, in contrast, to three games where the HD 5570 DDR3 won by a good sized margin)

Surprising results to say the least. The 64 bit DDR3 GT 630 (384 Kepler cores) actually beats the R7 240 (128 bit DDR3) in two out of four games.

So if planning to use the entry level card at low resolution (eg, 720p HDTV), this might be something to keep in mind (especially with current sale prices being what they are).

I did notice a while back Newegg still carries a few older midrange cards, but looks like they are down to just two HD 5570 SKUs now (both priced very high).

P.S. With regard to Newegg's inventory, one thing I have noticed is that they will clear out midrange and high end cards but the low end cards they appear to put on sale less often. (I guess some people will still buy the old low end cards simply for the video outs)

Mother board out of warranty and onboard video fails, or you need an output type not on the motherboard, cheap video works for many people.

For anyone thinking about buying the ASUS GT 630 from post #41, it doesn't come with a half height bracket (ie, the bracket that allows installation into slim desktops).

Fortunately I was able to install the half height bracket from my XFX GT 620 onto the ASUS GT 630.

Sometimes all you need to do is call CS and they will send out the short bracket, sometimes not without twisting arms, but worth a try so you have a spare.
