Anyone heard of this tax before? I just heard a sound bite while passing by the tv. This should help balance the budget since our society is filled with a bunch of fat people. Here is a link to one article Story. You can kill me along with the rubes who came up with this brilliant idea. I am just reporting this by the way. (fire extinguisher ready)

Won't ever happen. You ever smell a large group of fat people together? They'll agree not to adopt it just to get the big'uns out of there before the smell permeates all of the nearby buildings.

Yep, just like smokers, the premature death of fat people saves us untold billions in unused Social Security and Medicare benefits they'll never use in old age.

Fast food tax.
Please, explain.
Extra tax for eating at fast food restuarants.

They sorta already have this in most states. Called the "prepared food sales tax" IMO it hurts everyone.

Heh, ok.

What I mean is, how much would it be?
What would the money go to?
What would you define as fast-food?
Would "light-menu" items be taxed less?
Is it based on calories, fat, carbs, what?

It amazes me how many people are willing to simply give away their freedoms. The government has no business telling me what to do by pulling at my purse strings. If I want to eat BK 3 times a day, 7 days a week and become a whale of a man, that is my business, not the government's.

The problem for the rest of us is that you get so fat that you can't work, so you collect unemployment. Then you go on disability and collect workers' comp. Finally, you go on welfare and suck at the public tit for medicare, medicaid and any other medical expense that is associated with being obscenely fat. All that money comes out of my pocket, one way or the other, in higher taxes or higher cost of goods and services.

Easy solution: End social programs.

i have to agree with you. i get tired of all the freedoms we are willing to give away. Post 9/11 we have given way to much up. its a pity that we are giving more power to corprations then the people.

It isn't the government's job to provide for these people either.
