i don't know that most of us can answer this since we don't see much of the Star Trek ground forces.

i admit though, watching Star Trek female soldiers running around in high heels dodging from beind rocks firing their phasers is dumb.

but i would have to go with Star Trek anyways. their ground force would include a lot of low atmosphere ships.

you guys, they couldn't use any antimatter weapons or anything in a ground war.


EDIT: and as far as transporting 1000 ft into the air. they would just transport them into the ground.

The Republic/Empire would easily bring the Federation to its knees. The Republic uses thousands of squadrons of single-man/single-droid fighters, which a starship couldn't keep up with. Throw in a deathstar here or there, and a boarding party of Stormtroopers, and the Federation is GONE!

From watching Star Trek, I get the feeling that Starfleet officers have no military training whatsoever. They shoot like 45 year old housewives with pink pistols they pull out of their purses to stop muggers.

the borg would totally own the empire/republic because their weapons are built to fight agains the bord. after about 3 shots the borg shields would adapt and the entire republic army would have clubs for weapons.

and the star trek ships weapons fire locks onto the enemy ships, so after 1 or 2 shots they would have destroyed one of the republic fighters.

did you guys watch the last DS9 show? starfleet had a mighty fleet there. or the destroyed fleet in First Contact. they have a lot of ships.

in star wars we saw the ENTIRE fleet.

The Jedi are humans who have limited control over the life force that binds the universe together.

The Q are omnipotent beings who control every friggen thing out there.

They are nowhere near the same class, period.

Isn't it like comparing apples and oranges? I've never really watched ST, but from what I have seen, and considering they were a series for umpteen-million years, they had the opportunity to go way more into the technology behind it. We don't really know much about SW technology do we?

Anyway, I've always liked SW more, so...Jedis win.

The Federation (and the other ST races) have some pretty cool technology, but it's always either failing or being jammed. For example, how many times have you heard Tuvok saying something like "shields are failing!" or "hull integrity at 15%!" or "they're blocking our transporters!" or "photon torpedoes had no effect"? Also, in Picard's (and Janeway's to a lesser extent) TNG universe, the Federation seems to have little will to get down and dirty to fight. In one TNG episode, they sent Picard, Crusher, and Whorf down to a Cardassian world to do a special forces mission.... Why?! No ground forces, that's why.

When was the last time you saw some Federation tanks or ground artillery? Or any weaponry or armor whatsoever more powerful than a phaser rifle? The Federation would get their ass handed to them by the Empire.
