No. Dad sold her out to the aliens that eventually killed her through experiments.

That ending sucked ass in a big, BIG, way.... They had 2 FREAKING HOURS to wrap it up: they spend 1h45m freaking reminiscing through the useless trial, then they made a pathetically weak attempt to wrap it up in 15 mins. I've never been a hardcore fan, but this just sucked :| :frown:

I thought it was ok, it was better than the 2 seasons or so without DD.

Ok here's what i see. throughout the 9 seasons of x-files, the x-files agents have been fighting on 2 fronts and they didn't realize they were 2 fronts through most of it.

1 was the shadow government and they were trying to develop vaccines and so forth to protect themselves from the aliens.

2 was the aliens.

i think mulder loses hope when he sees that even the shadow government has basically lost to the aliens. that the aliens were taking over the government and that the invasion was inevitable.

in the end, he does imply that a higher power is needed to destroy the aliens. that his efforts had been for naught.

that higher power may be through his son or whatever, but the hope that he speaks of is connected with the higher power. but its accenuated by the fact that the dead have been coming back to help him throughout this episode.

anyway, that's just my take i'm sure you'll correct me if i'm wrong.

first off it didnt feel like an end at all. Theres gotta be more movies comin out.

Now the gibson kid should've said more, lot more. I thought he'd be reading everyones minds out loud... And i was kinda hoping dogget will shoot the alien guy in the head, it would have been more effective

if you're retarded or deaf, i will spell it out for you, the truth is that the world will end on December 22, 2012, when the aliens do the full fledged invasion. It wasn't really that difficult to pick up.

And this is probably just a finale for the series, but not for the X-Files (i.e. movies about mulder trying to prevent the invasion)

thats when the mayans predicted the world would end..

Mulder breaks into a govt. compound, finds out "the truth," knocks a guard into some high-voltage lines (supposedly killing him), and gets captured. The military tries to brainwash him into thinking he's guilty but he's too smart for that, of course. Scully & friends find out where he is and the whole stupid trial begins.

That "trial" was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen on the show. It was so contrived and meaningless that the finale would have been better off as a 1 hour episode with those scenes cut out.

I think the finale was meant to be a summary of everything that Mulder and Scully have gone through for the past 9 years at the Xfiles, so they brought these people who summarized events leading to a conspiracy. Overall i thought it was a good finale, even if you don't follow the x-files you kinda got the gist of what the show is about.

Im very sad to see it end.... I saw around 95% of the shows and liked everyone of them even if some of them were a little silly.

Cant wait for the movies!

oh god that was bad. It seems my fear that this "finale" was just a setup for a 2nd movie. this finale answered nothing.
i'm glad i chose to watch the practice finale and tape xfiles. The practice rulz!

Salon.com article on Xfiles finale

and it says that chriss carter says there WILL be a 2nd movie.

Sorry, but my interpretation is, hope = God

I don't really see that at all. I thought maybe he was talking about his son or that he himself would keep trying.

When di Scully give up the baby for adoption? I don't remember an episode where that happenned.

Actually the way I read that bit was: hope = more movies. I personally felt like the last episode was basically just a big wrap-up of the series (with no real revelations for anyone who has actually followed it) and lots of hints at the end that there was more to come (in the form of a movie). American audiences don't seem to have much of a tolerance for unhappy endings (good example: the american vs. french version of "La Femme Nikita"....they changed the ending) and that wasn't exactly a happy ending for the series. Impending invasion, baby gone, shadow gov't apparently well-entrenched in power. I think it was all just a big segue into the next movie...perhaps with new characters representing the "new hope".

Just my 0.02

Ya... the ending was rather weak to say the least

They should make a new show and have Reyez (sp) and Scully on it and call it the Sex-Files :Q

it seemed weak for an xfiles, but it did do a good job summarizing. what else could you do to get a general summary? I sure as hell haven't watched most of the last few seasons.. the ones i saw just got corny or stupid. but i used to be a hardcore fan back in middleschool.... damn i feel old.. but the summary was a nice wrap up.

I was glad to see the smoking man return but they shouldn't have killed him at the end like that. He's just to good not to be in the movies, maybe it was just his clone that was killed, maybe he will popup in the movies.

Don't worry, it was probably just his clone...

The Truth is Out There?!

The truth is that Chris Carter ran out of creativity, with respect to the X Files. Last creative impulse with significant plot potential was having Scully find the crashed alien spaceship off the coast of Africa in the season finale, the ship with biblical inscriptions on the outer hull; of course, that entire season was still mediocre. The ultimate insult was Mulder and Scully and Skinner in Hollywood, with Tea Leoni and Gary Shandling!? What a farce.

The X Files lost all credibility due to its incoherence, even before Duchovny left. The convoluted and uninteresting plots grew worse with Mulder's repeated deaths and sightings, not to mention the deaths of other characters and miraculous recoveries.

The X Files should have ended two or three seasons ago, before it became a sad imitation of itself.

On a positive note, Anabeth Gish and Robert Patrick have done well, considering the weak material.

It was about four episodes ago, when Spender came back and they thought it was Mulder all disfigured. Spender injected the boy with a solution that was to normalize the child so that he was no longer special. Scully gave the baby up for adoption because she wanted him to have a normal life and not grow up being scared of who might be after him. At the end of the episode it showed William in his new nursery looking at a mobile. The mobile did not move, implying that he no longer had the power to control it.
