Can someone explain why Mulder was seeing ghosts a la Luke Skywalker all throughout the finale? They couldn't have been just hallucinations b/c one of them gave him some good information.

Side note: I kinda like the added in "romance" between Mulder and Scully. It was an additional TRUTH that took the whole nine seasons to unravel. Although they'll probably never marry, have kids, or even sleep together, you can plainly see in the finale that they are in love.

On a positive note, Anabeth Gish and Robert Patrick have done well, considering the weak material.
Actually, yeah...I agree. I'm not wild about Gish, but RP has really grown on me as Doggett.

thats when the mayans predicted the world would end..
Actually that's just when their current calendar runs out. The Mayan calendar is cyclical and has end points and beginning points over and over again. At each end cycle the world is supposed to be destroyed or remade in some way with the next group of inhabitants having no memory of the past, and so on, and so on, and so on....

What are you crybabies whining about? That epsidoe rocked!!! What a great way to wrap up all those years and finish it off. Mulder and Scully finally kiss and show real affection. Flashbacks and a great summary of all those years that they spent searching for the truth. The truth finally being revealed. And in the end, Mulder realizes his futility and powerlessness, and acknowledges the need for a "higher power." This can be clearly seen when he holds Scully's cross. That was one of the best finales ever. I think you people no matter what would have whined even if it finished a different way.

The problem is, people who actually stick to the end and watch the finale doesn't need no stickin' summary and recap. All you people who says 'should've ended in season (fill in the blank)" need not apply. It is doing it most loyal fans a great disservice by all the recap material. Its is 2 hours just so it can sell more commercials ...

what's so bad about superior aliens taking away our planet for a better purpose? humans are just polluting it and having constant wars anyway. the aliens could just wait until after world war 3, and all humans will be dead from that.

dont those dumb aliens realize they cant go near magnitite? its like superman wandering into a field of kryptonite.

I don't normally post in OT but I'm an X-Files fan (see my sigs for a blatent recruiting effort) so I'll give a few comments...

IMO, the the finale was good, not 5-star great but still very good. I liked how it went back to many important parts of the series and kinda tied together the whole thing. I'll be honest, I like the show but I don't have a vivid memory of all the happenings so it was nice to get even a brief flashback of what happened between now and then. It also reminded me of how many excellent episodes I'd seen over the years.

Anyway, when you break the finale down it's Mulder on trial for murder but what he's really on trial for is knowing "The Truth". That's fine but when he realizes he has little chance of changing what will happen he suddenly finds faith? That's where I have a problem. Mulder was never one to give up and was always the sceptic as far as (Scully's) religion goes. Why the sudden turnaround? IMO, it was an unfit ending.
