horrible finale. Would have been a good second to last, but bad for last. Kinda a mix of a clip show and some new stuff. I expected alot more. How could Mulder be guilty despite the evidence. There was obviously bias and even in a militairy court that would not be tolorated. I understand that the verdict was set from the beginning, but with the last bit of evidence the trial should have been over in less than a minute.

if you're retarded or deaf, i will spell it out for you, the truth is that the world will end on December 22, 2012, when the aliens do the full fledged invasion. It wasn't really that difficult to pick up.

And this is probably just a finale for the series, but not for the X-Files (i.e. movies about mulder trying to prevent the invasion)

What Invasion? The one in 2012? Thats gotta be in a future movie. What else could they really have done for the finale? They are setting everything up to head into a movie...The last words mulder said, maybe there is hope, makes me think of scully's baby, add 10 years and that kid is going to play a huge role in the ending. But really, what more could you expect?

okay, i don't get wtf happened? what exactly is the "truth"? and someone gimmie a whole synopsis, i'm not following this at all.

The date is the truth, it has been known since the aztec empire. All this time mulder had been thinking that he had been doing something to fight back, invasion timetable changed, disrupting the syndicate, etc. But it hasn't changed anything, he's basically powerless.

The series definitely had it's bad moments(the one where people were getting killed inside a VR video game, and the lone gunmen hacked the computer by pulling out the power cable to the hard drive), and some great episodes like dreamland I & II. The series should have ended sooner though.

The rock behind Doggett contained the magnitite, much like how super soldier died earlier in the season.

I understood the invasion part in 2012 but I thought there was more to it than that. It seems wierd that they were searching for the truth all those years and that it was all about an invasion that was about ot happen. Who are the Shadow Gov't? Aliens? But the smoking man was supposed to be part of it?

Yeah I guess this sets up the movie(s) that may occur. It's kinda like Terminator series, how a kid is gonna be the special person who can save the world. The kid being Scully's child.

Thanks! That explain it. That's what he meant when he was powerless. But now Scully brought hope back to him. And the last line when he said there is hope, I guess he meant hte kid was gonna come back and kick ass!

It was series ending to setup the movies which is what David Duchovny wants. It will turn into the Star Trek type deal. I was glad to see the smoking man return but they shouldn't have killed him at the end like that. He's just to good not to be in the movies, maybe it was just his clone that was killed, maybe he will popup in the movies.

The kid was a miracle baby, with powers mentioned in the episode. How exactly was the baby born? Remember that star above the broken down house Scully had her baby in last season? That star makes me think a higher power had some role in that birth. The baby is being protected now for a reason, If there was no chance to change the date in 2012, then why protect the baby? Why protecting anything?

what the hell are you talking about? the show was pure GOLD for the first 5 seasons.



Anyway, I liked the finale. It explained a lot...I also liked seeing cancer man finally killed. Notice how they showed the skin burning right off his bone to prove their point that he IS dead this time?
And of course the reality is that the invasion and destruction of mankind will happen on Dec. 22, 2012. Mulder's last words were "maybe there's hope" which to me means another movie. A movie has been in talks for a long time, and it IS happening. It's due to be released in 2004...the only problem is, they say it will be stand-alone and won't be related to the series finale. I hope it's not a cheap knock-off.

Definitely a rather weak "ending." It answered a few things, but as several people have said they're obviously setting it up for some follow up movies. Even though the scene at the end was cheesy (as were numerous scenes throughout the episode), I was betting there would be an insertion of a little religion/spirtuality in the face of seemingly insurmountable doom. I always knew they'd have to address that at some point. It just seemed to be a logical extension of all this.

There's too many loose threads still. Scully's kid and the rebel aliens (the ones with the mutated faces) are the two biggest which come to mind. They just quietly fade away? Unless I missed something major, I doubt it. Not to mention that they don't bother to tell us what happened to all the other main characters (Doggett, his gf, the Deputy Director, etc.)

When the invincible "super soldier" was coming up to agent Doggett at the end there, was anybody else thinking 'it's a shame Doggett isn't playing his more famous role as the morphing Terminator.' Now THAT would've been a pretty cool fight for a finale
