Went yesterday to see my new PCP, first the good news he’s happy with my lipid panel numbers & won’t be increasing my statin for now. The not so good news, I need a bone scan, my left hip and left knee are killing me. He noted arthritis in the knee & suspects bursitis in the hip. We talked about options & decided against steroid injections as a recent study showed that it made arthritis worse, so I will be using lidocaine patches instead.

Next up, they are going to be shipping me a 15 day patch heart monitor, he suspects metoprolol isn’t doing it’s job anymore & that’s causing my dizziness. Next up, I am pre diabetic, not sure if this is a side effect from immunotherapy but we agreed I will be going on a appropriate diet plan after Christmas and then we ended the appointment with a flu shot…

OMG! I have never been so sick in my life, fever, chills, my body hurt so badly I could barely walk to the bathroom! Not sure what they put in this shot but it is kicking my rump!. Will be getting the new COVID booster in the next couple of months…apparently studies show that the olds like me do better waiting a bit longer & my last booster was like 3 months ago…so glad I didn’t get both shots yesterday. I have never had such an intense reaction to a flu shot….going back to bed now

My COVID boosters and flu vaccines knocked me out for about a day each with cold-like symptoms. I see it as a good thing - Strong immune response, haha! Haven't had a actual bad cold/flu in the past couple of years (knock on wood).

With only one exception, every time I got the flu shot, I got sick as a dog...just like I had actually gotten the flu.

I also didn't notice any negative effects from this year's flu shot, sorry you suffered from it.

You poor dear. I hope you feel better. I want to say I had a delayed reaction to my covid booster but it probably wasn't that at all given I that I got the symptoms about a week after the injection. So maybe it was a mild case of the flu. We'll see when I get around to getting my flu shot. I didn't want to get them at the same time either.

This years Flu show was mild to no reaction for me... which is an oddity from my past. At least I normally get a sore arm or something. COVID and all ots boosters had me wiped the next day after each time however.

Same here, with the exception of the very first shot of the vaccine and the third booster. But between the second and third, I think I had mild cases of covid at least two or three times and that might be conservative. If that's actually what happened, then it would make sense I didn't have much of response to booster three.

For other folks out there, if your primary response to covid infection is a tsunami of upper respiratory congestion such that you're constantly clearing your throat for a few annoying days, I can highly recommend guaifenesin. It gets the cilia in your lungs turbo charged and clears that congestion out right quick. You'll need to take it every 4 to 8 hours for a few days, but it will give you substantial, tho temp, relief.

Yeah got the flu shot this year and it was actually relatively milder than usual for me.

I usually get a sort of dull foggy feeling after a vaccine as my immune system kicks into gear and get very mild "flu adjacent" symptoms for the remainder of the day.

This time other than feeling a bit more tired than usual, nothing.

Maybe my body has just normalized feeling like crap at this point.

And look for the generic option, Mucinex is really raking it in on their marketing. I was using the generic stuff before they launched their advertising blitz and established the brand. It's wild how much they're upcharging on something that's been around so long.

Good points. If you can find a generic version that is timed-release, that should allow you to take just once or twice per day.

As for paying a premium for a brand name, yeah, I don't really get it either. In rare cases, the original formulation can be noticeably better than a generic. But even then, I'm not convinced it isn't psychosomatic.

No problem for me with this year’s flu shot.
ditto and have never had a bad reaction or any reaction for that matter IIRC. My reactions to my 5 covid shots were pretty mild, never felt sick. Have not been sick since Nov. 2019, when I caught some upper respiratory virus.

My wife jabs me in the kitchen annually.

I only got bad reactions from the covid vaccine a day or so after the shot. The reaction usually lasts no longer than 10 hours...then just injection site soreness.
