Yes, I rank Gallipoli with Mel Gibson as one of my all time WWI favorites. I haven't heard of Breaker Morant nor Shaka Zulu but I will look them up after I post this. Thanks for the tips.
I saw it, it was pretty good. I don't recall being overly impressed by the battle scenes... give me Gettysburg any day
Mugs: Agreed except for the formation of the square I mentioned and the overhead shot there wasn't anything special about the battle scenes but I liked that particular one. I was never into Civil War history though, except I did love Glory and a few others that I cannot think of right now.
If you liked that movie then you should love Lawrence of Arabia
Fingolfin269: No doubt about that. I have it, still in the shrink wrap, but I am waiting to hook up my surround sound again (remodeling den) before I watch it although I've been tempted to give in and just watch it anyway.
i didnt like the movie.. too many things were just too unbelievable. that african guy just seemed to be in the right place at the right time too often.
puffff: Yes, I felt as with many movies, the timing of everything took quite a suspension of belief but I still found it a very enjoyable movie and I am glad I discovered it.
