<< KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) -- The first contingent of French troops have joined the international peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan. The group of 15 soldiers arrived on Wednesday at Bagram Air Base, the French Embassy in Kabul told CNN, where they promptly surrendered to the local citizenry. >>

LMAO

In Ocean's 11 there is a great line about how the casinos are protected by armed guards - he says something like, "and there are enough armed guards in there to occupy Paris! ...okay, so maybe that's a bad example..."

Here's a joke about France -

Why are the streets of Paris lined with trees?

So the Germans can march in the shade.

Wow. The first post was joking alright, but you guys have to give France more credit than that... I doubt any of you have even looked into the reasons France fell during World War II.

At any rate, this is just 15 of 5000, and who among you are going to Afghanistan? Not me, so I try not to be nearly as disrespectful to them as the lot of you are being.

I understand that the French fell in WWII in part due to their reliance on the Maginot line (which proved ineffective) and their theory that the Germans would never traverse the Ardenne forest.

All kidding aside, I personally thank the French and other Europeans in supporting the US and ultimately the Afghanis in this endeavor.

Viva la France!

Look, its not just World War II. Lets look at the Frenchie's record in the last 200+ plus years of war.
French and Indian War: Gee, I live in the Ohio River Valley, and I'm speaking English. The French probably didnt do so well.
Napoleanic Wars: "They came in the same old way, ... and we beat them, in the same old way" - Duke of Wellington. Napolean lost at Waterloo. Game over.
Franco-Prussian War: Bismark used the French like a $5 (skanky French) whore. French lose, again.
WWI: "The Germans? Come in through Belgium?! NEVER! They'll attack across the border. Now pass the wine and hookers." - minutes from the French Ministry of War meeting... of 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1905, 1906, 1907, 1908, 1909, 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913, and 1914. Without the English, and the threat of the USA, the French would be speaking german.
WWII: "The Germans? Come in through Belgium?! Not AGAIN! They did that LAST TIME! They'll attack straight across the border. Now pass the wine and hookers." - minutes from the French Ministry of War meeting... of 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, 1936, 1937, 1938, and 1939. French are totally overrun in a matter of weeks. Without England and the USA, the french would be speaking German.
Indo-China: The French lost again.

Hmmm... seriously, I cant remember what war the french last won mostly by themselves
