It applies to everybody. Name a single organization that has been successful without marketing. There isn't one.

And the Aliens?
The Masons?
I think you're mistaken. I think they get a "free pass" because they aren't worth reviewing. The kind of people who sit around reading computer reviews (us) are the kind of people who know not to bother with intel graphics when we want to game. Just because AMD integrated graphics suck less, doesn't make them special really. They still aren't what most of us want to use.
I think you're looking for conspiracies where none exist. If you were right, there would be some debate about intel integrated graphics. There is none. There is a consensus that they are enough to display a desktop, and productivity applications. Maybe watch a video, but that's about it.
We could even make the argument that the conspiracy exists on the AMD side. You have reviews and forum posters who will try to evaluate them for gaming. They really aren't suited for that either. Just because they aren't as unsuited as intel, we shouldn't give them a free pass.
You see, it's all a matter of perspective.
Now there's where you are totally wrong. Movies, television, books, Area 51, they are in all media.
The Aliens have been marketing themselves to us for decades and have become part of the national psyche.
One could imagine if they had their own jingle like Intel's, it would also get changed every few years.Did your funny bone sleep in today?
Another re-branding from AMD. Their marketing wonks never stick with anything long enough for it to sink into the public consciousness.
It's sadly humorous to see them make the same mistakes over and over.
Or, to answer your question, it changes nothing, really. Just provides more reinforcement that AMD's problems are of their own making.

The Future is Heterogeneous
I like it.
Fusion implies homogeneous computing. Instead, AMD is focusing on heterogeneous computing while it's really Intel who leads the way to homogeneous computing with AVX2.
