Well considering I have an AMD K6-2 400, I think we can agree on my upgrading decision. As far as the game I have a few friends who are beta testing the game as we speak under very hush, hush terms. Although they arent allowed to really talk to anyone about the game they went to a preview to see a demonstation and meet the makers, etc. From what they saw they came back very excited and very eager to begin testing. I do agree the graphics can and most likely will be improved but I think the focus on graphics can be excused in this case considering the immense focus on REALITY and PRECISION the game will offer. Graphics are important though.
The need to upgrade for this game might be from the screenshots I saw. Considering the sheer size of the maps and distance the game will allow you see(ie: horizon) I'm guessing youre gonna need some muscle under the hood.
ive been following this game for sometime. not since air warrior has a game come close to what ive been looking for. aces high, aw3, etc just arent worth it. if they can pull off what they envisioned ill be playing this one all the time. they are shooting for 100% realism, even down to how bullets ricochet inside of a tank, ow.
Yes Yes, the graphics are not the best but as I said this is still in beta. The graphics will definately get better. Updated models, weapons, artillary, vehicles, are sure to be in the works as development for this game is going to be ongoing for as long as people play it. Again the focus now is on realism and gameplay "something many other games overlook".
Finally, they're making a game of this sort where people are running around, driving, and flying (and I don't mean like the Tribes vehicles). I thought it was cool enough when in Earthsiege 2 you could be either the land Herc or flying Herc.
"Pay to Play" is SUCK!!!
I have no problems paying for a game to take home and play it. But if I have to add a monthly fee to play it...screw that, I will go to the arcade and plug quarters into a machine.
Actually there is an even better game of this type in works. Its called Operation Flashpoint link It is set in 1985 and there is a war in Western Europe. You can drive/fly all types of vehicules including civilian or you can fight as infantry. Also this game has better graphics.
There is also Planetside, it is going to be more futuristic but the same concept, massive wars. It will have multiple vehicles with 3+ people able to leap into the same vehicle and operate different aspects of it. It will also have amazing graphics and countries that 'clans' control. Warehouses for surplus weapon storage / vehicles, etc. check it out: www.planetside.com
If it delivers the way Verant is playing it out, it will be amazing...
edski,
<< "Pay to Play" is SUCK!!! >>
There is no dodging pay to play. Any game that requires the power to keep 37,000 people online (number taken from www.everquest.com at 1pm during work hours) won't come cheap, that simple. I've never gone to an arcade and seen 4,000 people playing the same game...
