The S&S Steel mouse pad is hard to beat as it feels the best but a little noisy. Not really but for a mouse pad it does produce some noise. I highly recommend for gaming though

None. The industry invented optical mice for a reason. One less item on my desk getting nasty.

Try a Razer optical or even the Logitech laser and you'll see why. If you have a glass or mirror desk you may be SOL.

Got the steelpad S&S a couple weeks ago. Very nice - comes with "pad surfers" (teflon mouse feet) and case. It was very good out of the box and keeps getting better with use - - mouse glides very smooth ( in a good way) and very precise as well. I have always used a cloth top pad and was curious about the plastic ones. Pleasantly surprised. Only reason I got it is because it was available near me - but I'm sure there are similar products which deliver comparable perfomance for less money (it was 30+ bucks - the biggest minus about it).
The single phisical flaw is a tiny 0.01 % belly that it seems to have at one point towards the side - but the pad is really big and I hardly even use two thirds of it. For the price though - youd expect to get 100% perfect no?

If you get one try to make sure you get the right pad surfers. I own a Intelli explorer and was lucky to get appropriate pad surfers - I know they sell the S&S with surfers for MX mice as well.
Oh and its ten times better than a desk - for sure - but again I sure theres cheaper solutions (X-trac) which can give similar results.
Have fun.

Anyone who says mousepads don't make a difference because they use optical is just... wrong. Or they have an amazingly perfectly smooth surface on which to use their mouse.

Plus, I LAN.

Yes.

I really believe the mouse pad (assuming you have a decent mouse) and chair you use are two of the most influencial variables to a computing experience. Anyone who says they don't use a pad just hasn't tried using a good one. It makes a big difference. same goes for the chair.

I'm looking to get a new pad. Was screwing around with a drill and, well, drilled a hole in it. Pissed me off. Looking at Steel 4s, IceMat (not too sure about a glass pad) a RatPad GS, and one i saw that was 1/4 inch Dupont Corean looking material. Can't remember the name though. What do you guys recomend? I tried my mouse jsut on my desk one time and didn't like it at all.

I'm looking for accurtate tracking, smooth movement, not cloth, something that doesn't scratch easily. Not like an XTrac pad that scratches easily.

I don't know what it's called but I got one for $15 and it's insanely huge. I just wanted a normal one but newegg only had big ones apparently.

its got to be the Razer eXactmat.. i have it, it is not only huge, but its the smoothest pad out there (on the "speed" side, and the "control" side helps when im doing drawing in MSPaint ) I really recommend it.

I have 2 pads
Icemat black 2nd ed - glass pad, for home using, has awsome gliding and is very durable
Steelpad QcK cloth pad for lans, big size, nice surface and special hardened cloth, so the pad still looks good after transporting.

I use whatever is cheap. When I get more money, I might look into that Razer eXactmat.

EDIT: How much is this thing? RazerZone.com doesn't have it listed on their online store. Where else can it be had?

I bought the Func 1030 and a Logitech MX510 around end of last year and it has helped me perform 100 times better in counter-strike. Takes some getting used to, but the smoothness and accuracy is fantastic I've gone from being 1/1 or 2/1 to 4/1 or even 5/1 ratios in CS Pubs.

I use a standard small Dell mousepad. I once had a mousepad that was hard plastic and a semi-rough surface, but it wore the pads on my mouse down to the plastic! Needless to say, I do not use it any longer.

I play with a very high sensitivity as opposed to a lower sensitivity. Less arm motions and I can turn around much faster.

I still sometimes run out of space, though. Then the mouse feet get caught on the mousepad and I get screwed up. I have seen this Everglide DKT in person and liked it. Any thoughts on it? How does it compare to the ones you guys have?
