I do it for stats. I'm a stats freak. I buy sports games based on their ability to track statistics

Ahm, no? It can be a "good" sense or a "stupid" sense. And I decide what is good and what is stupid! j/k

Nope. I just see it as your opinion. I have voiced my opinion on why I, and many others, run DC projects, if you think it's geeky, then that's fine by me!

As I said, I find people cheering on a bunch of guys wearing tight clothes throwing/kicking a lump of leather and air around a field weird, but it doesn't bother me, cos I just know that it doesn't really bother me if they do, i just don't like it

No, I never really did get into any sports. I guess that's what you get for having parents who aren't sporty people, and growing up around people who aren't really into sports.

I will however watch the occasional game of football (soccer) or i'll sit down and see how the country is doing at cricket (normally badly, knowing England ), but I don't get so emotional about it like others do.

My favourite sports are motor racing, F1, WRC, TOCA etc, because I am also a car nut. I'd much rather spend my spare time fiddling about with cars, or playin/listening to music, than go out and kick a ball around myself!

ndee, if that's your opinion of me from what i've told you in this thread, then fine, i don't care We all have our own ways of enjoying ourselves, and we don't all have to agree. If we did, the world would be a boring place

This is me probably over-and-out in this thread

I see your point. Ndee's not saying DC is stupid per se, but rather that the enthusiasm people have for it is amusing. I'm inclined to agree, and I have five machines crunching. I think it's a worthwhile cause and keeps my computers busy, but it is humorous to see people get so worked up over races and stuff. Funny

Me neither. I do physical activity, but i loathe mostly all of the mainstream sports, as a result of not having been exposed to them as a child. I fully expect my kids to not give a sh*t about them either. I wish I could fake it, so that they'd have something to talk about when trying to socialize with the riff raff later in life, but alas, I just find them as boring as hell.

I enjoy participating in a dc project or two, as well as playing some ball outside or working out in the basement. To me, it brings people together for a good cause. You need teamwork whether your playing football or running seti on your computer. For each "team", whether it be a sport, or a program run on a computer. Providing inspiration for your teammates gets everyone to work harder. The inspiration could be used to cut harder without the ball, or try to better/tweak your system to run your respected dc better. Either one is different, but the end result is the same. To try & do better.

i used to find sports boring too until i did 2 things:

1. tried playing them
2. read about them

that helped me appreciate the skill it takes to compete at that level and to understand the little nuances you can't see from just watching.

Well, I just compare it with a sport because of the enthusiasm and competition there is.

I think you both need to watch a little panda cam. It has a calming effect I find.
