The Godfather 1 & 2

Been a long long time since I saw these. The post a while back on sequels got me thinking that I should see them again as I didn't remember much of them. Rented them on Blu-Ray and just finished watching Part II last night. Damn what an amazing movie(s)! I have a few minor quibbles, for one I think it's a little too ambitious and complex for it's own good, and personally I don't feel that it's the perfect movie like some think. But that's just nit picking. Gotta love the trifecta of Brando, Pacino, and De Niro. Duvall is amazing as well. Amazing how the rest of Coppola's works, accept Apocalypse Now, are all either mediocre or just plain suck.

I have yet to see Part III. I know it's reputation isn't as good as the first 2.

Obviously you haven't seen The Conversation. it's better than Apocalypse Now. He's gotten lazy.

You really think it's laziness? I think it's more likely that the well is dry. It's not at all uncommon for great artists to produce one or two genuine masterpieces only to spend the rest of their life producing garbage.

He's involved in tons of projects and has his fingers in many great projects from that time. I don't think anything has been as good as the 4 great films he made in the 70s, but then any one of those is singularly better than than the entire resume of 95% of filmmakers out there.

Plus, he's spending time hanging out and running his ginormous vineyard out in Napa (well, the wine sucks too, but whatever ).

I'd say I envy his life.
