Two stars of the first movie, “Lord of the Rings” actor Sean Astin and Corey Feldman, have commented before on the possible film – Astin told the website IGN in 2012 that “it will happen. I'm 1000 percent certain there will be a sequel. I will bet my children on it.” Meanwhile, Feldman tweeted, “I believe they [are] workin hard [to] make it the best script poss[ible] and if and when they feel confident [to] share w us, [you] will know!”

Grammar question: What is with the brackets? [] Why is possible written poss[ible]?

May now continue with the topic at hand. LOL

Wont be anywhere near as good as the first I dont think!

Remakes are never better then the originals. That movie is a part of my childhood. It has a special meaning to me, and a remake has no chance.

Hollywood is doing this because they have already have a built in-audience with the film. They know that people who were children in the 80's are going to want to reminisce about their childhood, so they will want to see this film. Plus, they will bring their children. The film studio will make al lot of money, and the film will suck donkey nuts.

His message was on twitter, so he only had 140 characters, the brackets are what he cut out to make the message fit.

Also, it is my understanding that this isnt a remake but an actual sequel with the original cast in their original roles.

Why would we want the original cast in their original roles? The goonies with 40 year olds sounds like a bunch of handicapped people from a mental institution.

Pretty sure I've never actually seen the original movie so I don't really care either way.

Not sure how old you are but if you were alive during the 1980's then you're dead to me too. You should watch it tonight. It's a fun movie.

Honestly if you take away the nostalgia, the Goonies is an 80's movie that didn't age as well.

I haven't watched it in a while but I did watch the Lost Boys recently. If you look at it as an 80's movie it aged well. If you compare it to 12 years a slave or Avatar though it might not look as good.

You kinda have to do this with lots of movies. Watch the 10 Commandments. If you watch it from today's point of view it's difficult to not turn it off. The movie is from the 1950's though and is still ranked #7 of all time most profitable movies. Gone with the wind is #1.

Yeah I was a kid in the 80's, but I pretty much only watched horror movies when i was little. I did love The Lost Boys which you mentioned in a later post.

I think it depends. Some movies aged well some didn't.

For example, thanks to great set design and sound effects, the original Star Wars aged very well. Yeah it is nice that the newer versions have better explosions and ship flying CGI cutscenes, but the original movie today is very enjoyable.

What kills an 80's movie faster than anything for me is:

-Women with 80's hair (makes all 80's Trek hard to watch)

-Any basic vector effects

-Saxaphone anywhere

-Children given an unrealistic level of freedom that helicopter parents of today wouldn't allow.

The Goonies suffers hard from the last one. Heck the kid from Big going into the city cuts it close.

What about 80's fashion? Ugh.
