Eric is looking for real numbers to compare. In thisthread. If you think you can through out some real numbers please do.

I've been looking recently at how credits compare across projects to see if our credit ratio needs adjusting as some have suggested. Its a little difficult to do because of result purging.

and

If anyone wants to put up their own statistics (including from other projects), feel free. It will help improve my estimate. But please only a stock BOINC core client and stock applications. Using optimized core clients or applications would throw off the results.

The sooner this gets resolved the better. I'm so tired of the "if they don't change it I'm going home" rants with out any real supporting facts. Aargh.

Why is everyone so hung up about the credits????? I was always under the impression we were pooling our resources to help; find a cure, search for intelligent life, etc. etc. you know for the good of all, NOT for individual credit.

I agree fully. But for quite a few cruchers the stats are a powerful motivator ... and they are fun too, as long as one is winning or as long as one does not take them too seriously.

That's true but acknowledgement of the amount you've crunched ,(the work you've put in) is also important.
Taking it to an extreme ,you wouldn't want to have nothing to show for it would you?

Oh sure, it's fun to keep track of and watch, but to quit because you're not getting as much credit as fast as you were???? or one project give you more/faster credit than another??? Ummm,... everyone is in the same boat.

Isn't the seti-forums already generating enough heat so can have a barbeque-party off this heat, and don't need to generate any flames ourselves... :evil: :beer: :music: :wine:
