Well considering In-N-Out doesn't expand far for a reason, I'm sure it gets more votes because more people have access to Five Guys than In-N-Out. Five Guys burgers are too greasy for me.

Good I like 5 Guys better. I give a slight edge to the InO burger but their fries suck ass compared to 5 Guys so the overall meal advantage goes to 5 Guys.

5 Guys' patties are gross and greasy. I love a fair amount of grease, but golly. Is the beef like 40% fat? Is it sitting in low grade oil?
When 5 Guys showed up in SoCal, the lines were pretty long. Now it's just average in most places. In N Out after all these years and lots of expansion in SoCal, lines are still long.

I'm not a huge fan of either...but I would choose 5 Guys over In-in-Out. 5 guys is a greasy mess though.

Generally I avoid burger chains. At least in my area there are plenty of Mom and Pop burger places that make a better burger than any of the chains. But if I'm on the road and don't want to stop for a small local place Whataburger or Braum's is my first choice. I've tried both Five Guys and In-N-Out and both are highly overrated.

I honestly don't know what people like about In-N-Out at all. I've been there 3 times and every time the burger I got was among the worst I've ever had. Stale bun, paper thin meat patty over-cooked until there was no flavor left, Wilted and yellowing iceburg lettuce, and maybe 2 small pieces of onion. I threw the last one away after one bite.

Every Chipotle restaurant I've ever been to...EVER...has a ridiculous line around the restaurant. Waiting in line is the Chipotle experience. It's even acknowledged in that fluffer documentary.

What I don't get about Chipotle is that the one near my place has like an hour wait from the moment they open to the time they close, but literally 3 blocks away is a Freebirds. For those that don't know Freebirds is almost identical to Chipotle, but IMHO has higher quality ingredients, at comparable prices. Yet, I can walk into Freebirds and walk out with my food in 15 mins or less at pretty much any time.

Five Guys has decent (not great) food but way overpriced. In-N-Out (at least here in Utah) is absolutely nasty 'food'. I put 'food' in quotes because it's questionable if most of the items on their menu actually are food. NOTHING there is good. McDonalds is vastly superior, and that's saying a lot...

5 guys didn't impress me. Culvers, Steak & Shake, or even Wendys have better burgers IMO. And if I want to spend $10 on a "premium" burger, I'll go to the locally owned little diner in the little "downtown" of the small suburb where I live.

It has to be at least 40% and probably higher. Five Guys insists on doing burgers well done and usually it's closer to well well well done and then burned some more beyond that. In order to overcook beef to that degree and still manage to serve greaseballs you have to be starting with REALLY cheap meat. Any decent meat cooked like that would come out like sawdust.

Smashburger is in a completely different category to Wendy's.... the fact that Wendy's placed several spots higher indicates that this is a completely useless poll.

$9 gets you this burger from a local restaurant around where I live:

I don't even understand why people buy shit like this - if I can't put that shit in my mouth without a knife/fork it's not a burger/sandwich.

I just look at it as two sandwiches once you rearrange it.

Never understand the love for In-n-Out, but at least it is cheap. Five Guys is ridiculously overpriced, I would rather spend that money at a local restaurant and get a way better burger.

I am suspicious of any list that puts Wendy's above Culver's. That's just plain ridiculous.

F*** Five Guys. I costs me $12 to eat there compared to $6 for a better-tasting meal at In-n-Out.

http://www.ocregister.com/2017/05/16/in-n-out-loses-to-rival-five-guys-in-burger-poll/

You're not ordering correctly if it costs you $12.

Five Guys Ordering Rules:
- Order a "small"...which is a single patty instead of a double
- Order it with everything. Don't be picky. The blend of flavors is amazing.
- One small fry feeds two+ people easily. If you're with someone, only order one fry.

Do this and your order should be around $7.
