Can't remember the last time Sony or Honda did anything exciting, while Samsung and Hyundai seem to be doing everything right (just to name a few).
Samsung and Hyundai sell to the mass market. They sell to bottomfeeders and license Japan's techs. Companies like Honda and Toyota are leading in new hybrid technologies. Sony just leads in everything. The reason why you don't see what they're doing is because they keep the goods in Japan.
And if I were a company I would rather have larger profits (Samsung > Sony). Even so, Samsung spends billions of dollars ($20 billion this year) in R&D and factories.

I've been to both Seoul & Tokyo (also Osaka, Fukuoka). I would say Tokyo is the most advanced city in the world but Seoul isn't far behind, Korea is doing quite well being between 1/2 - 1/3rd the population. The best condo I've been to was actually in Seoul though (ironically Gangnam). Both have excellent and clean subway / transportation systems. Korean companies like Lotte & Naver are increasing their presence in Japan as well.
Japanese dramas, movies, music are quite popular in Japan but I don't think they're as popular internationally like Korean dramas, movies, and music (especially Gangnam Style).

Seriously, what's the deal with Asian women and hair dye? I swear, every single Asian girl under 30 dyes their hair. Is it shameful for Asian women to have naturally dark hair or something?
Have you ever been to S. Korea or even Japan? S. Korea is somewhere between China and Japan, tech-wise. It is in no way a leader. I just returned from Japan and I was stationed in S. Korea and Dalian, China years ago. S. Korea copies Japan but has not over taken it in any way, tech-wise.
No idea but in all honesty I'm a big fan of red heads and not a fan of oriental chicks, but DAMN for whatever reason she does it for me...
