You haven't heard Seoul's municipal tap water is soju? Only the Irish men drink so much. In Korea, women drink like whales too.
Nobody will remember this guy a year from now. One hit wonder.
Pretty sure this is his 6th album, so no not 1 year

In the entire fucking world except for South Korea.
286 million views, wow.
Just 500 million more to dethrone Justin Bieber as the most watched YouTube video ever. I doubt that will happen.

Basically one hit wonder (yet to be seen) in only the USA and other non-Asian countries. Most K-Pop groups have pretty big followings in all of Asia including Japan (2nd largest music market in the world). A lot of KPop groups have followings all over the world. Big Bang sold out both their concerts here recently (LA and New Jersey). SM Town concerts have sold in LA, Anaheim, New York, and Paris In the US cities the demographics were a high percentage of Asian Americans with plenty of other ethnicities mixed in. In Paris though the crowds were mainly Caucasian. SNSD was the only musician/music group to shut down the streets around Best Buy in NYC for an autograph session besides Lady Gaga.
The KPop genre is a lot of fun - kind of like when the US had music shows like Solid Gold, American Bandstand, Soul Train, and Club MTV with groups like The Jets, New Edition, Debarge, etc... KPop has taken it to a new level with polished choreography and such and the groups appear on weekly music shows as well as variety shows, reality shows etc...
If you don't like the music, that's fine. Kind of neanderthal to go around bashing stuff just because you don't like it and don't understand it, but I guess that's kind of the norm here on ATOT.
I am not bashing it all, I am merely poionting out that as far as mainstream music consumption is concerned in this country, I do not expect this to open the kpop floodgates. If you need any further evidence of this son's pending demise, I hear it at a skating rink event for my 1st grader's class this evening. Actually, that might well mean it will have immortality... Who really knows, it's all conjecture, but I still think that Americans are not en masse going to start listening to songs in any language other than English...If you don't like the music, that's fine, but it's just neanderthal to go around bashing stuff just because you don't like it and don't understand it.
