Lol, looks like they're having fun. Their cover dances are awesome. The guys wearing the actual girls outfits and heels is a bit freaky though.

I am not bashing it all, I am merely poionting out that as far as mainstream music consumption is concerned in this country, I do not expect this to open the kpop floodgates. If you need any further evidence of this son's pending demise, I hear it at a skating rink event for my 1st grader's class this evening. Actually, that might well mean it will have immortality... Who really knows, it's all conjecture, but I still think that Americans are not en masse going to start listening to songs in any language other than English...

wondergirls are so forgettable i don't remember seeing any of their videos girls generation at least had the middle age guy viral creep factor going on lol, but i guess you can't build a career on that in the west like you can in japan.

I'm glad that garbage hasn't made it here and hope it stays that way. That's not to say there wouldn't be any competition here in the pop category, but it would be nice to hear some actual artists and not just studio eye-candy creations with limited musical talent.

I've yet to hear female kpop bands that aren't some ho-in-training kids singing over-produced music with average vocals at best, like these imo. If they're actually singing too. I'm glad that garbage hasn't made it here and hope it stays that way. That's not to say there wouldn't be any competition here in the pop category, but it would be nice to hear some actual artists and not just studio eye-candy creations with limited musical talent.

It's all in the eye (ears) of the beholder I guess. What I see is young people having fun, working hard, living their dream. Some toil as trainees for years before debut. Some make it, some don't. But this is what they chose to do with their lives.

In that particular video I linked they are singing live. I don't know much about SPICA, but I do recall reading that one of the girls worked as a voice coach for a few other girls groups, so it's probably one of the main vocalists.

The better idol groups like SNSD sound as good live as they do in studio, unlike many American pop artists. They use professional song writers and professional choreographers (like Rino Nakasone). You'll get no argument that they do not have the greatest singing voices in the world (that's why they're designated at Idols vs Artists in Korea). Although some - like Taeyeon, Jessica, Seohyun, and Tiffany - have very good technical singing ability. However, SNSD probably harmonizes better than any pop group ever has. (although I'm sure you'll disagree). All those who haven't done a bit of studying see is 9 pretty faces and some crappy pop song (to their ears). However, take a bit of time (which most ATOTers will not) and you'll find 9 classy, wholesome, humble, hard working women who enjoy performing together as 9 more than anything else. Quite refreshing in today's pop entertainment industry - which in the US thrives on controversy, sex, drugs, attention whoring etc.. except in the rare instances of a Taylor Swift and a few others.

In the end though, it's still a business. SME is going to have them sing whatever is going to make them money for the demographic they are going after. If you don't like that type of music; that's fine.
