Having personally known many Southern Baptists myself, I think it makes perfect sense in that it follows their penchant for hypocrisy and double standards.
Newt's dishonesty and lack of moral fiber mirror that of individuals the evangelical community who get caught sucking dick, doing drugs, or being unabashed racists, and they ignore it accordingly.

This is one of those events where the religious right punches itself in the face and then looks proud about it. lol, let them I say. It would have made no sense if they endorsed Romney.

I think it's going to be interesting to compare Romney 2012 to Hillary 2008... both tried to ride in as the "inevitable" candidate and had that wave break.

Hillary's team pretty clearly wasn't prepared for a long-haul delegate fight. we'll see if Romney's team does better.
