If Ronald Reagan were alive today he would be soundly denounced by the modern GOP as a RINO.

The GOP loves the myth of Reagan, not the reality.

Truth...per Think Progress...

1. Reagan was a serial tax raiser.
2. Reagan nearly tripled the federal budget deficit.
3. Unemployment soared after Reagan’s 1981 tax cuts.
4. Reagan grew the size of the federal government tremendously.
5. Reagan did little to fight a woman’s right to choose.

I've heard many say Regan couldn't win the nomination in this day and age. His policies on taxes alone would sink him. He also had a nasty bipartisan streak (Regan-O'Neil Social Security Act 1983)(Tax Reform Act 1986).

Isn't Gingrich ineligible for like 500 of the 2000 delegates? I guess they could still technically nominate him at the convention but I don't see him getting more delegates in the primaries than Romney.

Newt would solidly destroy him in a debate, and it would be very entertaining to watch, but even the most ardent Obama supporter knows this fact, whether they want to admit it or not.

That is why his "handlers" would never allow a fair, straight up debate to happen. Obama will undoubtedly be pressured to appear in some kind of debate or debates, but count on it/them being very restrictive that favor Obama (bias moderators and use of a teleprompter maybe?) I believe Newt would still do well with the restrictions, but not nearly well enough to lift him into the White House.

Teleprompters at a debate? Please.

This is the best they can do. After all, they are going up against a very popular and re electable successful president. If they are "values" orientated voters, no one says values more than the Obama's.
I don't think Obama even has a Tiffany's account?
Newt? What - a - joke! But, they all are jokes...
Let the wagers begin

That is LOL!
Popular - No. Look at the poll numbers. He sucks.
Successful - Again No. Lots of promises broken.

I'm surprised at that, too. One would think that the large number of racists in SC would vote for Paul. Maybe Paul got every single racist and nobody else?

I'd like to see where you came up with that fact? Besides your ass. There are no more racist here than anywhere else.

That was one horrible speech by Romney. It had nothing but dishonesty and cliches.

It was filled with straw men and empty rhetoric.

'Obama wants to destroy America, if you love America you're for Romney' was the basic message of the speech. Constant spin.

I've mentioned before the Republican fallacy of pretending attacks on bad capitalism are attacks on all capitalism, and that lie was a major part of the speech.

OMG! Newt said Obama could use a teleprompter during a debate, so clearly that means he has in the past and will in the future!

In other news, Obama said Newt could claim he's Jesus H. Christ in a debate. Clearly that means he has in the past and will in the future!

I knew some idiot would think I insinuated that Obumber has and would use a tely at the debates with those links.

You dolt, you're so easily gulled.

I would love to see a debate between President Obama and Newt.

RU kidding?
Obama could simply list his first term achievements, while Newt dribbles nonsensical statements from out of his mouth.

However what the real key is to this, is that with all Newt's baggage, SC still picked Newt.
What that tell me is one, republicans have pretty much given up.
And two, SC voted for Newt just in hopes of witnessing a battle of words between Obama and Newt with the debates.
Simple childish, and juvenile ""Oh Yeah, I'll show YOU!"" SC knee jerking (off ).

If I were Obama, I'd just totally ignore Newt, and not debate one single time.
That, more than anything else, would set Newt off in a red eyed steaming rage.
Newt, burning his own bridge (as if he ever had one in the first place), then whining like a little child ""why am I being ignored"".

Now THAT is what I'd love to see...

It is very easy to get under Newt's skin.
But that is so typical of people caring around a lot of baggage.
They are sooooo vulnerable, sooooo thin skinned.
Don't republicans realize THAT? I mean Newt... really??? The Tiffany baggage queen?
Obama? Newt? One on one?
Can't one single republican think this through? Not even one of them?
And Like Barney Frank once said, "you can't argue with a dinning room table".

Let Pelosi go on the attack against Newt.
She has kinda hinted that many congress members past and present, including herself, have A-LOT of poop on Newt.
Poop they suppressed in order to "spare" Newt any further humiliation.
I know Newt must realize exactly that!

Newt is like a little kid in a candy shop.
He sees all the candy, wants to eat everything, was given the chance to actually eat everything expressing great glee.
Then, soon after, he is terribly sick in the bathroom chucking up his guts.

Newt wanted to win, but I'd bet down deep he really did not want to win, or expect it.
His real goal was to destroy Mitt Romney for what happened in iOwa and New Hampshire.
So Newt did that in SC.
But now... he is facing that upchucking process should he actually eat the whole thing.

I look at Newt this way... He's like an 8 year old with a mouth a temper.
With absolutely no control over neither.

Oh Oh Oh the republicans.... The horror of being careful for what you wish for.
Havent you put yourselves through enough?
Cain, Bachmann, Santorum, Palin, McCain, and now Newt?
Like I said... let the wagering begin. KA-Ching!

that's a surprising analysis, usually you're so open and receptive to listening to Republican speeches

There are more and less bad ones.

So if a Republican stood up and speaking in horrible grammar, threw out every racial epithet we know, cussed profusely, and called for the return of slavery, and I critized that as an especially bad speech, you would respond that I don't like any Republican speeches? Kind of misses the point.

While I see your smiley, I think there was a misguided point in your post ignoring my point.

You dolt, you're so easily gulled.

So you bother posted the links... why? They clearly didn't support any of your ridiculous claims. If Obama issued a press release saying that Gingrich could use encyclopedias during a debate, does that mean we should assume that Gingrich is going to stipulate that he has encyclopedias during a debate.

If you have any actual evidence that Obama plans to use teleprompters during a debate other than Newt's generous 'permission', let's hear it. Otherwise, join us in reality.

Here's a clue: There really are no debate formats where a teleprompter would even be helpful. Even if you know ahead of time what the questions are going to be, you can't predict follow-ups and rebuttals. That's why it's a debate, not a speech.

Heh. Are cops open & receptive with a gangmember having a list of priors as long as their arm?

Only fools are susceptible to verbal rehashes of the same ideological falsehoods that created the lesser depression in which we live. In the collapse of the Ownership Society, Repub leaders haven't shown the slightest chagrin but have rather doubled down on the same concepts & rhetoric creating it, relabeled their economic snake oil w/o changing the recipe in the slightest. And their delusional customers buy it by the case.

I'm talking about history and how it could be used in the general election.

Here, I'll simplify it for you.

Who had strong conservative convictions, was defiant and pugnacious, and was overwhelmingly successful with moderate voters in the general election? Ronald Reagan.

Who's been more defiant and pugnacious by leaps and bounds in this GOP primary. Newt.

lol. Do you actually believe this? I honestly hope and pray that the rest of the Republican electorate is as poorly informed about electoral politics as you are and chooses our good friend Newt as their candidate.

Please, I'm begging you. Nominate Newt. You said yourself he's your best candidate. Not only would he lose in a landslide, but the rage meltdown during the election when it becomes obvious Newt is going to lose badly would be an epic source of entertainment.

One nice thing about Gingrich winning in SC, it has Ann Coulter's panties in a major wad. Gingrich receiving more than 40% support of married women chaps Ann's ass to boot......

I wonder if Newt's campaign paid for the use of "Glory Days" in his victory speech? I doubt Springsteen is a big fan of Newt.

I think most campaigns just pay a blanket licensing fee to the record companies and that's that.

very few artists own the rights to their own songs.

I see no way Newt can beat the anointed one.
Yeah, I really doubt that. I'm pretty sure obama would serve him up and slaughter him like a xmas turkey.

If they pay the BMI/ASCAP licensing fee, they can play pretty much anything as incidental music. If they continue to play one particular song to the point to where it appears to be a campaign theme they run into "branding" issues and must negotiate directly with the owner of the song's publishing rights to continue. Remember Half-Governor Palin's adoption of Heart's Barracuda in 2008? The Wilson sisters put a quick end to that.
