Well the rumor mill is churning, from Titan LE to 7xx cards before August.

Fudzilla claims the GTX 780 will be based off of the gimped Titan (AKA Titan LE), and the 770 off of the 680 slight-respin.

It will be an interesting spring in GPUs. Maybe NV is looking to finally offer something compelling for the price (since last summer the 670, and maybe the 650 ti boost albeit pretty late). They should easily beat the 7970 GHz.

GTX 780 will indeed be a 3GB 384 bit card. I presume 6GB will be available later as well.

GeForce GTX Titan LE, a board based on cut down GK110 GPU silicon. = consumer version of Tesla K20C, the 2496-core part with 5GB of GDDR5 memory.
The performance is about 30% faster than a single GTX 680.

GK104-425 die e.g. nothing more than a higher clocked GTX 680
Estimated performance is 20-25% better than GTX 670, on pair with the regular GTX 680.

same die as GTX 670; GK104-225.

Nvidia's product stack calls for 6GB Titan, 5GB GTX 780, 4GB GTX 770 and 2GB GTX 760 Ti.

Until Maxwell (GMxxx) arrives in 2014, do not expect new silicon from Nvidia. Come to think, AMD is also holding back its Volcanic Islands (VI) for the tail end of 2013 or in 2014.

I don't see a gk110 5gb gtx780 being $499. I'm thinking $599, and gtx770 comes in at $449. Also, a gtx680 is not 20-25% faster than a gtx670, so if the gtx770 is that much faster than the gk104 die is improved and/or running at higher clock speeds.

Depends on the actual sample. My Titan@1006 is about 50% faster than a 680.

This is stock, it is not overclocked, just watercooled. As I said, it depends on environmental conditions, especially temperature.
And the 7970 has nothing to do here as f1sherman said.

Considering how boost 2 works water cooling is no longer stock. It does effect the clocks the card will run at.

Water cooling would affect the 780, too. Or the absence of water cooling would affect both. And now? Doesn't really change anything. The distance between Titan LE and Titan should remain constant on average under the same conditions.

Stock is the max clock. The max clock dependents on the temp target and less the power target.

The default temp target of Titan is 80°C. With a water cooler people will get the max clock much longer than with air cooling.

It is possible that the GTX 780 may be purposefully crippled like the GTX 580 and have only 1/2 the double precision SMs enabled (or less if NV wants). So the Titan would still be of interest to those doing low budget GPGPU research, etc. and keep it's lofty price whereas the GTX 780 would just be a high end gamer's card.

Now that you mention that it'll certainly be like that (imo) if it's $400-$500 less than the titan to try differentiate the titan(ic) price.

The thing is that the titan was hardly useful for more than a handful of pro apps so the market is extremely limited. It's more or less probably just a test in branding/marketing/loyalty/regaining the performance (24k gold) crown.

I don't doubt that nvidia will be releasing new cards, but I think the performance expectations they have here are far to optimistic.

I would imagine that many gpu owners who already have a gtx670/7950 or higher will be waiting to see how AMD responds instead of adopting these cards early. To me even at $500-600 Titan would not have offered enough of a performance boost over the gtx680/7970 for me to want to upgrade, and these cards are going to be slower than Titan.

Since all is GK110, Nvidia doesn`t have to make new chips like GK114 to make new GPUs, but rather build on an exisiting chip, GK110. Until 2014, where we will have Maxwell.

Even if that's the case none of those cards would compel me to upgrade from a 7970 or gtx680 for the price, especially with the current state of game development.

Either way, it would seem that 28nm is getting better if they are able to increase performance like this and keep power usage/heat in check. I'm interested to see reviews tomorrow of the 7990 to see just how much of an efficiency improvement AMD has gotten out of the process and their small refinements. If things look good it will make things pretty interesting once both manufacturers have their new series of GPU's released. I'm extremely curious if AMD will choose to compete for the single GPU crown with a massive die or not. I'm comfortable waiting for both AMD and Nvidia to release their next generation and then use my bitcoins to buy a flagship from whoever is fastest at the time.
