So 18 months later and we have cards that might be faster than a 7970 @ 1.3GHz+. Disappointing, to say the least.

Get used to the new normal. AMD and NV will be stretching out their product releases, from what I've read, due to the higher cost of development and production on new process nodes.

I've noticed over the last several days that dell no longer lists 6 series NVidia gaming cards on their site. Could this be a prelude to the 7 series showing up?

Nothing. They simply realized that they could sell them like hotcakes for 1000 dollars.

I'm confused...which is then?

Do u really need anything more powerful? Until the next gen consoles are released there's no need for new vid cards.

There was no supply for GK110. TSMC increased the output in Q4 2012 and in the same time nVidia started mass production for GK110.

So basically the 760ti is exactly the same as the 670 OC for less money.
But not until June.

So guys, how do you think AMD will respond?
Will they drop prices, or release some 7970 XT (heavily OCed) ??
Maybe both?

This was confusing to me when it talks about Titan LE and gtx780? I'm not sure what he was trying to say, will there be separate parts or are they the same thing?

Also, 25% faster than gtx680 for the same price? I'm buying one if that's the case. Highly doubt that is true.

I was a bit confused with this point as well, the article is not well written...

I don't know much about semiaccurate but that author seems fairly unimpressed with nvidia or their 7xx cards....sure the new cards are largely a rebadge but it sounds like the consumer will get more performance/dollar (if pricing rumors are true). While not the refresh we want, isn't this a good thing?

I think that what he was saying was that Titan LE is the name of the die SKU (GK110 with more fused off than the Titan), but the card itself will be called the 780. Same as how the 7870 Myst card is based on the Tahiti LE chip. (Charlie may well have invented the chip name, given how close to the AMD style it is.)

So let's see if I've got this right... we potentially have the 7xx cards coming out next month. The flagship GTX780 could either be a Titan LE or an enhanced GTX680. If it's the former, the price could be anywhere from $600 to $750, and if it's the latter, then the price would be <$500?

Now that you mention it, +20% performance 780 (Titan light end), +20% price $600.

Win - win, hey wait a minute... Who won? (Hint, not the consumer)

This has been pretty common when new cards are released the past few generations. I always see people think that when the new cards are released they will get more performance for the money. Usually it is the opposite, the older cards are the better value for a while.

With the exception of the Titan it's usually a better gain than linear price/performance increase. I agree it's been extremely poor lately though.

You know who's fault that is? It's AMD's.

War in Iraq?...AMD's fault.

Financial Crisis?...AMD's fault.

Global warming?...AMD's fault.

All this snow in Canada?...AMD's fault.
:\
