and as usual these crazy prices will trickle down meaning no reasonably priced upgrade for me. the 770 will likely go for 450 bucks or more. lol that is over twice what I paid for my 660ti and will have less than a 20% clock for clock advantage since its just a 680. of course it will probably oc at least 10% better too but still not even close to worth it for me.

I'm referring to his statement that AMD are to blame for Nvidia's high pricing. Nvidia's GTX680 is ~$450 and until Titan it was their top card. GTX780 is the replacement for GTX680 yet costs ~60% more. Previous generations replaced the current top card at the same or similar price point.

HD 5870 was priced lower than GTX285 but had ~40% higher performance.
GTX480 was priced ~40% higher than HD 5870 with only ~10% higher performance.
GTX580 was priced in line with GTX480 with ~18% higher performance.
HD7970 was priced in line with GTX580 3GB but with ~25% higher performance.
GTX680 was priced slightly lower than HD 7970 with ~10% higher performance
GTX780 is priced way beyond both GTX680 and HD 7970GE with ~20-25% faster performance. Yet somehow this is AMDs fault.

GTX780 pricing is down to Nvidia and nobody else. At least have some integrity and place the blame for GTX780 pricing where it belongs instead of some silly conspiracy theory that AMD are to blame.

if the new generation of GPUs is prohibitively expensive, more PC gamers will choose to go to the new console generation launching this year instead of upgrading/building new PCs and you will essentially be shooting your own market size/share right in the face

I have to give kudos to NV for one thing though, their mastery over the 28nm process.Previously it was AMD who was process champ.

Also, recently AMD has been releasing very leaky chips too. The early batches had the higher ASIC scores, now most of them seem to be in the 50-60% with high default voltages of over 1.2v. If you test a recent model 7970GE it may have even higher power consumption than what the reviews show with their units.

HD 5870 was priced lower than GTX285.
GTX480 was priced ~40% higher than HD 5870 (I suppose that was AMDs fault?)
GTX580 was priced in line with GTX480 even though Nvidia had no competition from AMD.

You're wrong. The high end gaming cards aren't where NV makes all of the money. They sell plenty of mainstream video cards that carry the company.

That's my point, Nvidia choose Nvidia's pricing, not AMD. No conspiracy theories or failed logic required. I don't like the pricing of GTX780 and will vote with my wallet, but lets not pretend the pricing is fair.

nVidia makes money on high end cards or they wouldn't sell them. We (enthusiasts) are the market for high end cards. If we will not bear their new prices, then the market will not bear them.
