Clover

seems to do everything like, dsdt autopatching, fixes, speed steep, ssdt, hdmi, etc.

Sounds like a good project. DSDT is the reason it won't work on my laptop, so I will give us a try and let you know.

Well, since no one has posted in the other thread since May, decided to post a few things here.

First, latest Hack is an HP/Compaq DC7800 which I got off Ebay for $69.90 shipped. I first installed iAtKOS L2 on it and it ran great. Thought I might as well see how well a retail install went and did one using UniBeast and another using Kakewalk.

Then when Mountain Lion was made available on the app store I bought it and since have also developed a UniBeast guide for installing on this same system. It runs very nice, but with the oddball sound chip, you can only use voodoohda or even better a USB sound dongle. Guides available on the HQ-A homepage linked to in my sig.

BTW, I also tried to put ML on my DS3L, but so far I have been unable to get it to boot after installing ML. I'll keep working on it though.

So far that is all I have ML running on, but plan to try my GA-945GCMX-S2 and GA-H55N-USB3 also very soon.

Mosslack, any idea how those processes might compare to VM installation? And are there any techniques that don't require already having a working OS X install?

Finally got my GA-P35-DS3L up on ML. Had to remove NVDAResman.kext to get it to boot back after the initial install of ML. Naturally video is limited, but sound and ethernet are now working via MultiBeast.

Also have it booting from the hard drive. Another oddity, the DSDT I've been using since my SL days was causing problems as well. Had to find another one on OSx86.net.

Anybody know what the problem is with NVDAResman.kext?

Seems the problem with certain nvidia cards was more common than first thought. A fix was posted on Insanely the other day. Tried it and it fixed mine. Now have full resolution with QE/CI.

If anyone else runs across this, the fix is called NV Override for Mountain Lion.

This whole DSDT thing has me confused. I'm wanting to hackintosh my old HTPC. The motherboard is an ASROCK H67M-GE/HT. Do I need a DSDT? If so, what should I use? My make or break is HDMI, it has to work as I don't even have a PC monitor in the house.

I'm not totally up-to-date on Intel onboard graphics, but I believe it depends on the CPU you used. I have a GA-H55N-USB3 with an i3 CPU that doesn't work with onboard graphics past the text based screens. Of course you could always use a supported video card to get past that.

As for the DSDT, it will probably work without one, but it's better to have one. IOW, you can use the EasyBeast option under MultiBeast and get it to work, but this installs more kexts into the system than one using a DSDT. HTH

I never got that far or even close. I couldn't get the installer even run. It would pull up Chimera, I'd select USB, it was flash an Apple screen and reboot. I tried all the listed boot commands(-x, -v, etc.) and nothing worked.

a reboot like that is usually an indication of a kernel problem. Either your CPU is not supported or something else major wrong. I have that problem on the H55N-USB3 under Mountain Lion. Reboot loop. This link popped up when I searched for your mobo and hackintosh:

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...oPO0nUlpESJAoO-tg&sig2=yeWbfh8HYTRJgHIoYs9RAw

Might give it a read and see if anything helpful there. HTH

I gave up on it, to much aggravation for what I'm using it for. All it's doing is running iTunes to serve movies to my Apple TV. Windows 7 can do that well enough. I got it set up this afternoon and it's chugging along very well.

Check your bios settings. That board with an i3 and onboard 3000 graphics will work fine with mountain lion.

Are you running a G530? I'm debating chips and trying to balance hackintoshability with price. Seems that most of the Celeron builds use discrete graphics, which would seem to negate the cost savings vs i3 2xxx. Would be great to hear straight answer on whether HD2000 does/doesn't work for HD video, non gaming usage.

HD2000 does not work. You need an i3 with HD3000 or 4000.

I have a GA-EP45C-UD3R which is suppose to be easy to run ML but I my hackintosh locks up after 2 minutes from booting. I think it was multibeast that messed it up.

The Gigabyte EP45s are some of the best supported mobos out there. I've got an EP45-DS3L which works perfectly.

Try kakewalk. It's usually a breeze to do.
