That is correct. I am still amazed by the quality of running Dreamcast games in VGA Mode to this day. Quite frankly, VGA Mode appears to be the exact same thing as 480p, yet it looks better despite having the same number of lines. (Comparison was between Shenmue 2 running in VGA mode on the Dreamcast vs. Shenmue 2 running in 480p with component cables on the Xbox) Ah yes, and to the other poster, the Dreamcast is about 6 years old. Not 8.

LCD TVs are not going to cost anywhere near 1200 dollars...even for a projection, its nice really.

Or give his name to Target and let them take care of it.

Your name is fitting for this subject, ha ha!

so james, you think target will actually take action against one of their mindless fools? and trouble themselves with finding an equally mindless magot? dubiously doubtful

BTW, Captain Literacy, I mentioned in my first post that I know there's a DC VGA adapter.....wtf does linking to one prove?

Wow pellinor, your sharp wit knows no limit. Your verbal taunts almost make me fell as inadequate as you when thinking of my new TV, hot date, and the wad of cash in my pocket.

On the adapter link, I thought you might want to order one and see how "crappy" a VGA signal is instead of just spouting your mouth off about things you have no first hand knowledge of. Didn't your parents ever tell you that kids should be seen and not heard?

Also, I suppose if I'm Captain Literacy, then that makes you my sidekick "Improper Symbol Usage Boy":

#1 How do you politely tell someone to "F" himself?
#2 You're taking the cashier out to dinner? But tonight you're playing with the TV......so you, like, set the date for next week? Or are you just expecting it to be a quick date?
#3 Hot? Available? Red-head? Working at Target....in the electronics department?
$4 You carry $1250 cash on you?
$5 Dreamcast doesn't have VGA output. Unless you mod it or use a converter that turns the image to crap. Why a high-rolling stud would want to play his 8 year old video game system on a $2000 TV with a crappy VGA converter, I don't know.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to call me out in the first place, but in an effort to keep your thread crapping from getting my thread locked I shall cede defeat to you.

Besides, if I continue to beat on you there's always the chance of me being arrested for child abuse. So just stay out of my thread if all you can do is hate on things you don't have.

/you

VGA is 640x480 and presumably progressive since VGA (video graphics array, BTW) was an early standard for PC monitors which became available as non-interlaced (i.e. progressive) at the latest in 1991 or so. I bought a non-interlaced (progressive) 1024x768 14" color monitor for my PC in 1991 or so. A lot of PC games were in 640x480 back then, but I could run Windows 3.0 at XGA (1024x768). Summary:
VGA = video graphics array = 640x480 = 480p

Ha, I'm about 9 miles away from that store. I wish I could afford a new tv.

Oh, just read it has no built-in hdtv tuner.

Ya know the guy was nice enough to share this deal with you and all you're giving him is grief. Why don't you stop being such a dick about it- no one would have known it even existed otherwise.

Oh, just read it has no built-in hdtv tuner.

Why do you care? The majority of people will be using the box from their cable company. The ony reason you would need one is if you wanted to invest in an OTA antenna, and most of us would need a rooftop mounted antenna to pick up OTA signals anyway.

If you are able to pick up OTA signals with a set top antenna then go buy yourself an HDTV with integrated tuner already.

Most HDTV's do not have a built in tuner. It's Just a pet peeve of mine that somebody always has to point it out like it's some HUGE deal breaker.

Hehehe, I agree Built in tuner is nice, but definately not necessary, Most people use Cable, or Sattelite to get there signals, and well you can even GET OTA with most sattelite setups. I really wish I could find one in Utah at that price, I would buy another. have one upstairs and one downstairs.

Yeah, no need for a tuner for me since I use Charter.

And thanks Iwearnosox! I expect to catch grief like that for a post in OT, but not in Hot Deals.

That's because it's HeroOfPellinor, a P&Ner who escapes every now and then only to forget that other forums have some civility. Be happy that you didn't say something like "Bush stinks" and he would've really gone ape on you.

Nice find. I would try to duplicate your efforts (on the TV that is), but we (wife and I) don't have the room or finances for that TV.

That said, I'm on my way to Target right now.

There's no need to crap on Dreamcast. Any serious fighting game aficionado still owns a DC mainly to play Capcom's VS., SF3s, and Alpha. VGA connect is great way to play games on HDTV and VGA monitors.

There's a slight hitch in playing video games on HDTV. That is there's a lag. I don't have first hand experience with it. No HDTV. But, from what I read because of up scaling that happens.

Makes sense now. You thought you were safe in posting OT stuff here in HD because you'd be sheltered from the hailstorm of OT replies. I shattered that buffer of security you thought you had.

Go post about picking up a "hot" red-head Target cashier in OT, Casanova. Then come back and post about the great YMMV Local B&M you got on a nice TV here.

I _hope_ he's being sarcastic. Otherwise, Pelinor please go back to P&N.

Most projection monitor manufactors Void the warranty if there are signs that you've hooked video game systems to them. For the simple fact that the most recent systems PS2, XBOX, Gamecube etc display too many colors at a given time and can harm the projection assembly. Before hooking all your systems up be sure to read through the Warranty information.

You just don't know when to quit do you? After my last post to you I recieved a pm from you implying that I should have a sense of humor, as if you were just kidding with me all along in this thread. So I tried to cut you some slack.

Now, after me asking you politely to keep your crap out of my thread if you can't be nice, you come at me with more of your drivel. Now I could be wrong about you, you might be joking again, but I fail to see that.

It also seems to me that you are the only one here in this thread hating on me. Everyone else could not be nicer, but you come at me with sand in your vagina.

I'm not sure what set you out against me in the first place, but it's clear now that your inadaquacies prevent you from keeping your diarrhea of the mouth in check.

I'm at a loss man. I know if I continue to verbally spar with you that you'll only keep taking the beating, much like your boyfriend delivers to you daily I'm sure, and retaliate with subpar insults.

This is my final warning to you, stay out of my thread if all you can do is crap. Otherwise, Daddy will be forced to take his belt off son.

To everyone else, thanks for the replies, and jalaram, you and the wifey can have the cute red head when I'm done!
