Before hooking all your systems up be sure to read through the Warranty information.
CRT projection tv's can be damaged by static images which cause burnin on them. It doesn't have anything to do with colors. DLP's don't have that problem and LCD's have it much less (contrary to popular belief, LCDs can suffer burnin and I have seen it many times first hand at my job).

Thanks Mr. Jackson, we were able to pick up one of these in West Hollywood tonight. It was sure a pain in the ass dealing with the retarded staff who kept finding one in the stock room and then mysteriously being unable to locate it. There were no demos either. The computer showed 3 in the stock room and we finally managed to get a helpful little person(yes, a midget) to cart it our from the stock room for us. It was actually quite a site seeing a 3' lady cart out a 50" tv.

The only problem now is that it looks enormous in our not so big apartment. And I know nothing about HD and will have to spend the rest of the week researching new equipment. I plan on trying out the XBOX on it before all of that though.

Thanks again, and good luck with the red-head.

I expect to catch grief like that for a post in OT, but not in Hot Deals.

Makes sense now. You thought you were safe in posting OT stuff here in HD because you'd be sheltered from the hailstorm of OT replies. I shattered that buffer of security you thought you had.

Go post about picking up a "hot" red-head Target cashier in OT, Casanova. Then come back and post about the great YMMV Local B&M you got on a nice TV here.

sounds like it's the hero's time of the month and in addition, hasn't gotten any in a while. seriously stop being such a dickhead.

my store only has the display, they would sell it to me for that price as well. Should I jump on this? Or is buying a display a risky thing, since it is a projection TV, and the bulbs do go out?

I would be very leary about a display unit. If you do the math on how many hours this bulb could have been used in the store it may be near the end of its life already. It may be worth it if you can get them to knock some more money off which you can put towards a new bulb. There is a thread on the AVS forums about how many hours people are actually getting out of this model, so you may want to check that out before you roll the dice.

the store here has only been open since july 24th of this year, already did this work and asked them if the display had been on the floor since opening the store, they said yes. Its not a 24/7 store tho

well if you figure 12 hours/day x 7 days/week x 9 weeks = 756 hours. That isn't so bad. I haven't priced how much replacement bulbs yet, but at the price of the TV it sounds like It may be worth it for you. I assume you still get the warranty and everything? And have you checked out the unit for cosmetic damage? Knicks and scractches probably won't perfect performance, but are good for getting additional discounts.

Good deal jimmyjam, glad to hear someone finally got one. Could the midget see over it on the hand trucks??? I can't wait to get an Xbox 360 on this thing and see what it looks like.

Question for the HDTV gurus, what's the advantage to A DVD player with HDMI output? I was looking into getting one but then realized the Xbox 360 will be the same thing and more.

Also, I now need to build a nice speaker system to go around this new TV. I want to save some and get it right from the beginning (i.e. buying a matched component set, not a HTITB), but until then I need an immediate answer for a speaker system. So for the time being I need a HTITB system for around $500'ish. I've already got a good reciever (to be upgraded later), so are there any sets with just speakers?

I checked out the various HTITHB systems at circuit city tonight (and yes Pellinor, I got the hot chick at the registers phone number tonight too) and liked the Samsung, Panasonic, and LG sets, but could really use all the info I can get before buying.

It's only a temp setup that will eventually move to the bedroom (where all the hottie chashier love making happens) so I want to get something decent as far as decent goes w/ HTITB.

BTW chinkgai:

You see Daddy's taken care of business. He's been sent back to his room (P&N) to think about what he's done.

I saw the Polk Audio R50's on sale for $50 each at outpost.com, I got the R30's when they were on sale and am very happy with them and can only assume that the R50's are that much better, search Hot Deals for the deal I think JokerSmoker just posted it a few days ago.

I regularly play Marvel VS Capcom 2, and Street Fighter 3 on my 30" CRT HDTV and experience no lag. The only time I have even heard of such an issue is with some DLP sets.

I played XBOX briefly last night (Halo 2 & Crimson Skies) and didn't notice any lag or problems. I'll probably play all weekend though and have a better review next week. So far I'm loving the TV, I just wish I had more time to watch it.

How dows Capcom fighting games look on HDTV? I have my DC hook up on Dell 2005FPW thru S-Video. Have to tell you it looks crap compare to 27" Sony Wega. Capcom 2D fighting games does not work well with HDTV. I think it's optimized for 320X240 resolution. Other 3D games look great however.

I'm sad to say that DC is probably the last great vg system for 2D fighters.
