Am I the only 10+ year PC gamer who saw "They Hunger games movie" and thought "wow, they're making a movie out of those? I guess Zombies are popular right now"

My wife just plowed through all three books in a weeks time. She thought it was great airport fodder kind of reading...aka Dan Brown type of books.

My 14 year-old daughter read the books and I read them too. When I got to the end of the first one, I was amazed at the brutality in a "kids" book. The next 2 were OK. What I liked about them is that they did not shy away from the likely effects of the brutality the kids go through. When you are that young and sent to kill other kids or die, it must have an effect. My 14 year old was quite disturbed by it by the end of the series. It starts off with Katniss being an obvious teen hero and quickly goes south.

Battle Royale was awesome, but like was said before, not completely original either. Yes, I know Gamer and Death Race cam out after Battle Royal, but those were both probably based off some earlier movie/book.

If you're going to hate on Hunger Games, do it right and complain that it's a teen heartthrob (like Twilight) meets Battle Royale. P.S. I know nothing about Hunger Games (but that's what it looks like from the ads)

After reading the first book, and then actually watching a preview, I can't help but think we'll all be disappointed. Why isn't the movie gritty when they're in her district, or in the games? It just seems way too colorful.

I recently read the books. The 1st two were decent enough for what they are intended to be... but the 3rd book/end? Ugh. MAJOR let down. The book is just horrible no matter WHAT it is intended to be.

That being said, I think they cast the movie INCREDIBLY well. Woody Harrelson is DEAD ON for Haymitch. I look forward the movies and plan on taking my 10 (soon 11) year old.

Haha yeah when I first heard about "The Hunger Games" I thought it was a reality TV show about hunger issues in Africa or something with people trying to live on an impoverished diet.

I'm always wary of movies that have this much hype. I always get the feeling that it's a few die-hard fans of the series creating an echo chamber effect. Honestly it's just a movie, either it'll be good or it'll suck. I can't trust critics because they have basically already decided it's the best movie ever before even seeing it.

Twlight and hunger games are not in the same category. Hunger games is much more action packed and violent

I saw the midnight showing. Not as good as the boook (of course) but still great in terms of the action and worth watching

It has nothing in common with twilight. The Hunger Games is actually a very good book. The twilight books are trash.
