Is this movie really that good? Yesterday I saw huge lines of people waiting to see it. I had no idea what it's about so I watched 21 Jump Street
Read his post again. He's talking about Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
Listening to Donald Sutherland on the Wrapup Show right now. He's such a great actor and he's pretty funny and interesting too.

What race did they expect she would be with dark brown skin?

Keep in mind the number of times they mentioned it's "just for the show". Maybe you're not SUPPOSED to believe it... eh? :whiste:
That said it definitely falls short of the book by a long shot. It was a movie made for fans, but they cut out enough to make them mad (and used shitty shaky cam). Then they didn't explain enough to make it good for you non-fans. So at the end of the day you have a movie that few people will like except die-hards who will like anything with the Hunger Games name on it.
What were the big parts they cut out? The books are told from Katniss' first person perspective; a good deal of it is just what's in her head, and that's tough to translate to film. I thought they included all the essential elements of the book. The only aspect that was underemphasized a bit for me wasthe confusion over whether Peeta's affection for Katniss was real or just a play for the cameras. Nonetheless, it's clear by the end of the book (and the end of the movie, as shown in the train scene) that his feelings are genuine.
And anyone who hasn't read the book thought Kat genuinely liked Peeta. Epic fail of a movie.
