As for our purpose I personally believe that it was to remove Saddam from power as he was a threat to the surrounding nations. The man had to be removed. However, in addition to that I have to acknowledge that there were definitely some economic ties to Iraq (Oil).

You mean our close allies Syria and Iran?

Just because they aren't our allies doesn't mean that he wasn't a threat to them. We recognize both Syria and Iran as countries. Just because we disagree with most everything does not mean that we want a foreign dictator, who has already proven to be horrible, to invade them or attack them.

Irregardless, Saddam needed to be removed for many other reasons.

To the Contrary... Saddam was a force in the area that all sides needed to consider before making moves... HE was OUR boy in the area for as many years as I can remember.. Removing him... can't be Kuwait... can't be 9/11... can't be to buddy up with Iran, Syria or anyone... It sure can't be human rights issues given we supplied all manner of WMD to him to off all manner of humans..... I wonder ... could it be just plain old oil??? What is left?

Time to leave Iraq. This one is finished. There is no hope for reconcilliation after this lynching. It's an eye for an eye culture over there. The Sunnis will not make peace with the Shia until they hang Malaki and the rest of them.

I for one hope you all realise that we've traded the devil for a Satan, the new boss in Iraq looks like the old boss. The Shia are the terrorists, they live in a backwards ass culture that leads them to suicide in the name of martyrdom. It kicks my ass to hear that the U.S. is playing the 80% rule concerning Iraq, supporting a Kird-Shia alliance to keep peace. The Sunnis are only a minority in Iraq, they make up the 80% rule when it comes to the entire Middle East. The Kurds are a countryless people, hated by every the countrymen of every nation-state in which they live within. We combine two impossible allies to keep peace? Its a policy doomed before it began. Any guess where terrorism gets its money these days? (Iran, a Shia dominated scoiety!) Any guess what islamic religion most terrorists belong? (Shia dominate the global terrorist groups!) Quite frankly, by supporting the Shia we are perpetuating the terrorists because the Shia religion is the single largest source of modern fanatical islamic heresies that drive terrorism. Instead of supporting the Shia, we should of been kicking their ass just like Saddam. When we leave Iraq, which we obviously will, the rest of the Middle East will right the Sunni flagship back over Iraq.

At this point the only thing that makes sense to me regarding Iraq and what we did there seems to be a quid pro quo...

I know this is idle thinking but....

It seems plausable that some force indicated to the US in some manner that it had the means and opportunity to wreck havoc upon the western world... maybe dirty nuclear bombs in oil fields... disruption of oil flow.. that kind of stuff.. AND to prevent it the US must liberate Iraq and Instal Shia rule...
It is what we did... but what were our motives... and could Bush tell the US any of this if true?... maybe it served to eliminate another 9/11... I don't know (obviously) but really think OIL is a key factor.. and the continuation of it flowing... .. OBL was a friend of ours.. and maybe we agreed to this extortion...

Say what you will about me, but I really don't care... I do not think that he should have been hung... I think he should have been left to rot in jail cell, I do not believe in cruel and unusual punishments... I am sorry but hanging someone, regardless of their crime, is just wrong... It Brutal!!! I know what most of you are thinking about that, that he did worse to others... Well how much better are the people that killed him if they did the same thing to him that he did on to others??? It make him a marter... More so than most... I also believe that now that Saddam is gone, that we should get of the Civil War Torn Iraq, and focus on Ohsama Bin Laden... Oh wait a minute, why would we do that?!?! The Bin Ladens are the one keeping THE BUSH Families Rich... I forgot about that... Opps!!!!

It's too bad the US just doesn't send some of it's deathrow prisoners to Iraq.

Screw letting someone sit behind bars for 30 years and waste taxpayers' money.
