I think it's wise to get the best tool for the job, regardless of brand. Then again, all my power tools are corded so I'm not really locked into anything.

Instead of a track saw, can't you just use your circular saw with a straight edge/guide? I do it with great results.

I bought myself a Kreg Straight Edge Guide and that was wasted money. If you lean into it as you're supposed to, the aluminum bends and you cut a slight curve rather than a straight line. Fixable with a table saw but not anywhere perfectly straight.

As for the straight edge guides recommended on youtube.. made of plywood yes I built myself a few and they've worked great at first. However wood moves as the seasons change and all 3 of my wood guides bent, bowed and warped and were unusable in the following season.

That's why I wanted a track saw but I suppose you're right.. sheet of plywood to make your own track for the season is only $30-60 where as a track saw is $400-$800.

Still I find myself wanting the tracksaw because I wish the guide were like my other tools. THEY JUST WORK!

The trick with a straight edge is you still need to measure out where to place the straight edge vs your line. I usually end up making a wood spacer but it's tricky to get it dialed exactly, and it might also change with humidity/temperature etc. Though if you cut it so the grain is perpendicular to direction of cut it's less likely to change. Also need to be aware of where the blade will be on the line. If you're doing any kind of cabinet type work even being 1mm off throws off the whole project and squareness.

The Nest Wired cam was on sale for 60 from 100, plus I had credit at the Google Store, so i snatched one up to keep in my place to check on the dog when I'm not home.

Pretty damn nifty. Camera turns off when I get home automatically by sensing my phone location, and turns on when I leave. The doggo is with me at work, but the camera is working great. I turned on the mic and tried to draw my cat to the room by calling his name and saying it was God but he didn't bite.

An RX 7800 XT Hellhound and an LG 27GP83B-B monitor (27" QHD/165 Hz display). Just need to switch out my old Dell U2417H on my monitor stand now, and all the fun of routing cables that comes with that task...

This chonker of a GPU about a year late. Popped up at a local Best Buy and apparently still hard to get. Now I have the January 15 holiday return window to decide if it’s overkill.

After finagling with the mess of cables on the monitor stand and under my desk, got the 27" in place.

I got an awesome strawberry huller for $8 on Amazon:

I go through a lot of strawberries; this has a little claw-plunger that takes the stem out. It has handles on the side for your fingers to hold. SUPER useful:

* I like to make white-chocolate-covered strawberries with chocolate stripes. I just use Almond Bark or Candiquik because it melts easily. I prefer this over chocolate-coated strawberries.
* It also makes them easy to stuff with no-bake cheesecake.
* I make a lot of roasted strawberries, which goes well on salads (great with feta & air-fried candied walnuts or pecans!), as well as milkshakes & ice cream

It's a pretty niche unitasker BUT I LOVE IT SO MUCH lol

Is that monitor within the return window? Colors look washed out. You could get better image quality and more vibrant colors with VA panel.
It could just be the nature of the photo (or a photo of a monitor being reproduced on your own equipment). The colors seem fine to me, and from everything I've read, outside of OLED, IPS panels are the way to go for color accuracy.

I also just went with a highly rated panel per RTings.com reviews, since there aren't many places to see stuff in person.

Support bracket installed? Seems very little space left below it.
Nah, not bothering with anything like that. It’s pretty secure in there with the three case screws and the FE card seems solidly built. It does monopolize the PCI-e slots, there’s basically two slots worth of space below it.

Cambridge Microcenter!
That's where I got my 7800 XT, but I wasn't thrilled with their monitor selection from what I saw online, and what I had previously seen in store. It's also just bad lighting to get an idea of what it would be like in my own place.

I haven't shopped there yet, but it sure would be nice to see some items in person. Cambridge is about an hour drive for me - if I go at the right time of day.
It's about 25-30 minutes for me from just northwest of Boston. I like them because the prices are usually extremely competitive (and they price match), so I do like to get stuff from them over other, online-only places, if they have what I want. And it's nice to be able to see some stuff in person, like cases.

My mom lives just south of Boston, so it can also make the trip to Microcenter not such a hassle, since I can stop on my way down.

I have 10 now, the oldest being 8 years old and all work perfectly. It's was a really good platform but I have no idea how the new hardware is going to hold up. Nest was crushed by the Google acquisition.
