cheapo pocketknife with a plastic case broke on me. I bought this bad boy off Amazon.

Heavy duty feel to it.

Mesa Boogie guitar amp from the early 90s that popped up locally. Weighs about 90 pounds to match its design year. I played one of these in my high school and college bands back before it was “vintage”

No leaking caps. Cool

Needed a new set of preamp tubes though. Not cheap anymore.

Oh man.. I had a Mesa Boogie DC-5 and a Jackson Kelly Pro.

There are times I do get nostalgia.. but I know myself.. I wouldn't play it long term for more than a few days if I did buy it again because back then I was composing but now I would just be reminiscing.

I'm intrigued for sure

Pine cone jam

Also, I seem to have gotten the deal of the century. This was $60 on eBay because it was just for parts. Turns out it works, it just needed a new thermocouple (which I lost and then found)

How does it taste? Also, I appreciate the cigarette resting on the keyboard, adds Russian authenticity.
:^D

That's a dowel rod. I bought a pack for rolling blocks of wood off the stem after cutting. The preserves are good. It's sweet with an herbal piny background. The cones and nuts are tender and easy to eat. I'm not quite sure what I'm gonna do with them though. I think it would be good on vanilla icecream. I'm gonna pick a pint up this weekend.

I was reading an article where the preserves were mentioned, and it sounded like something I had to try. I found them on amazon. The company put a card in the box. They ship out of Bronx NY. I've been looking the site over, and picking out other stuff I'd like to try.

I have literally ordered nothing online for seven days straight. A record, this year is a year of zero to virtually zero Amazon, and only experiences and savings over stuff. This is the hardest of all the Project Strive '25 goals.

Good luck to you. Other than some water filter replacements for our fridge, I haven't ordered anything else since xmas. Haven't been really looking at stuff, but now that I'm back at work, the "window shopping" might start back up. The busy time of the month needs to get here quickly!

When you do start ordering.. let us know where from?

I'm mainly on Walmart/ Ebay and Amazon (3rd choice) for 99% of my stuff.

I'd like to get away from amazon, but the vast array of stuff you can get in a single order makes it convenient. There's almost nothing they don't have, and it's fairly risk free, especially for esoteric/exotic products where a small competitor may or may not be a scammer, or have shitty security.

I ordered a few flash drives from newegg a while back.. and they turned out to be scams.. 4GB ones repurposed/ sold as 64 GB ones.

Just got them from Amazon and they were the real deal.

I noticed that with Amazon. Lot of duplicates of the same item going under weird names. The descriptions are also really weird too. Like a 5 year old wrote them.
I was looking for a laser pointer that takes AAA batteries, because I have a crap load of those and just want to actually have something to use them in. All I was finding was about 100 different names for the same USB rechargeable one.

It seems in general, it's hard to find quality anything anywhere now, it's all cheap junk from China.

Yep. I've been ordering some tools and workshop stuff like sawblades and the knockoffs are everywhere and ready to ship. The more familiar brand names are out of stock or take a long time. I'll cheap out on some stuff, but not spinning blades of metal. I wonder if an Amazon competitor focused on at least decent quality products would have a chance at being profitable.

Amazon is definitely headed in that direction. Everything is just the same crap sold under a name using some random collection of 5 to 8 letters. "Trust SDJNMZ brand chocolate and industrial solvents for your camper/RV/girl/boy/house/work/shed"
That's not Amazon, it's the marketplace vendors.

Not entirely, unless they've just completely integrated them at this point. It's definitely better if you filter though. I don't mind buying from quality third-parties, but that turns it into a bit of a minefield.

It all depends. I got some shitty mystery name toy carabiners that are great(for what they are). You need to have a feel for what you can get away with. Saw blades? Not a chance in hell I'm getting random Chinese steel. Something like that is better from a smaller dedicated vendor. Trolling woodworking forums would probably get you some good leads.

Pine cone jam

"This product can be described in one sentence: taiga-flavored jam. The coniferous aroma takes you deep into the Siberian forests and plunges you into a resinous forest fairy tale."

How hungry do you think the first person to make this was lol
