I was looking into Plex originally but didn't like the fact that it still relies on cloud to some extent. Went with Jellyfin instead. It's 100% self hosted.
the only thing it relies on is redirect. unless you are counting the metadata fetches.

Doesn't it require an online account as well though for you to even use it? Or can it run standalone?
Yes you need an account. Not that hard to create an email address. My plex login is not my main email address.

Just ordered 30 more cans of snus I don't need at an inflated price. Everything's gone to shit recently(pre trump), and trump is likely to make things worse. I'm expecting USD to tank, and the prices will only go up from here. Not sure how tariffs even work with grey market products. I don't know where I'm gonna put it, but I'll find a place. I /think/ this will be the last thing I need to buy aside from food for the next few years. Still waffling on a phone, but time's running down on that. I'll either have to do it, or not.

Just do it! lol
Asshole. I took your advice :^D

Just seems pragmatic to buy now, and the price buying through Visible is good anyway. Got a MotoG Power. After a couple months on Visible, it'll be unlocked, and I can switch back to the 2024 Power for internet, and use the 2025 phone as my primary on Tmobile.

I also saw they have a new higher level plan. For an extra $75/year, I can get an extra 5Mb/s on the hotspot. I'll get that plan when it's time to renew sometime this summer.

lol honestly if I needed to make an electronic purchase, I would've done it also! I looked at some used hard drives on goharddrive and they went up like $20-$30 than when I was looking at them like a month ago. I don't need new drives, but was planning on adding storage to my server. Guess I'll be waiting a while longer now!

My son eats 5 foods in this world. One of them is pizza from a certain pizza joint (Lamppost). The local one went out of business. I just drove an hour and a half each way to get 5 pizzas. Got home and my wife said the pizza may taste different. Will have to see how he reacts to it at dinner tonight.

It just annoys me being wasteful. The phone I'm using is a couple years out of support, but it works great. Will it work great for another 4 years? I don't want to get two years into this disaster and pay twice as much for a phone. I'm not super concerned about security updates. I keep a low profile, and don't install everything that's offered to me. Updates are better, but it isn't the end of the world running out of date software.

Hank, do I remember right that your son is autistic? Could you maybe make a fun night having a pizza sampling party? Get a bunch of different (local)pizza, and see if he likes anything.

I'm losing weight, went down 2 pant sizes so far, but I feel like my moobs are really showing now. My goal is to drop another 10-15lbs(but also gain some muscle tone. Hopefully these shirts will just be a temporary thing and my moobs will reduce as I lose more weight.
Wish you best of luck in that endeavor. I lost my moobs when I went down to 54 KG. But have since went up to 70 KG and while the left one seems ok, the right one has ballooned in size. Not that bothered by it unless I have to take my shirt off in front of someone.

Yes he autistic. Oh we we tried different pizzas. We tried 4 different pizzas one day, surprising how different they all were. We, and he, tried to like different pizzas, but they just did not make the cut. He would choke down one and a half pieces and say he is done. We went to a lamppost last weekend and he ate 4 pieces.

One of the foods he used to eat was Tyson chicken patties, until he said there was too much pepper. We looked and there were black flakes in the patties. Complained to Tyson and they said there was a new recipe and sent us coupons for free chicken patties. We threw the coupons away because he would not eat the chicken anymore.

One thing we cannot figure out is that he only eats orange food. Go figure. (except for chocolate chip cookies of course)

OK, this could be bad advice. But what if you taught him how to make a pizza. Then he makes it the way he likes. It's a fun activity for him to do and he may actually like eating it because he knows exactly what he put in it and thus he will be able to figure out the "ingredients to taste ratio" (if that's an actual term). You never know. He could become a renowned chef. Autistic can sometimes just mean more intelligent than the rest of us, mostly painfully so.

Possibly some cross-linking between the visual and taste neurons. The way sometimes when you are eating some particular food, you remember a song that played when you were eating that thing in the past. Or when you hear that song, you get a craving for that particular food.

Ordered a phone case for my new phone, and a hydraulic filter for my chipper to get free shipping. I don't need the filter right now, but I eventually will. I feel like there was something I forgot. Nothing important, just something to get for free shipping. I forgot last time I ordered, remembered, and now forgot it again. I should really take notes when I think of this stuff.

Keep in mind, my son is 31. I have read certain books so he would eat spaghetti, a different book so he would eat pizza, played video games for him while he ate. When he was a toddler he had what I called the thumb test. He would stick his thumb in the food on his high chair and if he did not like the feel, he would not eat it.

He eats peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, spaghetti with meat sauce and McDonald's french fries with ketchup. So he eats bread, meat and ketchup. Put it all together into a McDonald's hamburger and it is a big no. He took a little bite and almost threw up.

Ever taken him to a large buffet and see what he will eat from the wide variety of dishes?

TBH, any hamburger isn't as good as a PB&J sandwich or McD French Fries so I understand that

That's pretty interesting. Sounds like a texture thing? Has to be kinda orange, and the right texture?

Probably won't work, and I'm not gonna throw dumb ideas at you all night for stuff you probably tried 20 years ago, but maybe he'd like fake chicken patties. Most of the ones I had are pretty good, but if it's only old recipe Tyson he likes, they'd be unlikely to match it close enough.

I can imagine that's hard. There are certain foods I don't like, so I imagine for someone like him, it's almost like the opposite, hate everything except for a few foods. Probably not willing to try new things either, kind of want to stay in the comfort zone.

I worked with a guy that in retrospect was probably a little autistic. Obsessive over detail, and he brought the exact same lunch every day to work over the ~20 years I worked with him, and as I understand it, he did the same before he started with us. PBJ, with either grape or strawberry, a tastykake, and red KoolAid.

It's pretty useful having someone like that around. He had the interest and patience to through data I'd get bored with after 15 minutes.

edit:
and he LOVED nascar. I couldn't give 2 shits about it, but he'd be talking about it, and I'd pickup some tiny detail that was vaguely interesting, and I could get him talking for a half hour or more with a simple question.

I'm almost that guy but usually stick to something unless forced to change due to unavailability or whatever. Don't like trying new stuff. Ate biryani rice (no meat or chicken) for dinner for three months straight from a nearby restaurant. Changed only coz it didn't help the way I thought it would (long story). And I also love going through heaps of stuff that others find boring, only because I like the thrill of discovering something fascinating (Spock fascinating). And yes, I wish everyone was Vulcan. They are just more logical.

I have learned a lot about myself from my son. The apple does not fall far from the tree. I am definitely on the spectrum. One thing about him is he is a concrete thinker. Give him facts and figures. He was great at math class and not so good at English.

We watched NASCAR together and I got him a set of flags that he would wave during the race. I don't like NASCAR anymore but he loves sports. We watch everything Dodgers and he started watching basketball and even hockey.

You all remember the movie RainMan? He is very much like Dustin Hoffman's character in that movie. Remember how he would not fly because there was only one airline that had not had any crashes? Sometimes my life with him is like that.
