The accidental order came today.
<snip>

Sure, sure. Those damn Russian hackers, hacked into your computer and ordered those cool toys and sent them to you to punish/teach you a lesson. That your story and you gonna stick to it, right? LOL.

Gonna take a pic or two of your whole Transformers collection? Would love to see the whole thing.

Not today but I recently bought 40 acres of offgrid land. Goal is to eventually build a homestead, maybe move there. Took the pic today.

Very recently also bought a 3kw inverter which came in today. It's from Amazon so it's a big gamble, I'll have to put it through some stress testing.

I kind of need a 24v power supply to drive it, so I also bought 4 golf cart batteries:

The charge controller I have can do 12 or 24 volt so will just be switching everything to 24v. Might rewire the solar panels so they're in series, but I might be ok with them as is.

It may seem ass backwrads but the inverter and batteries will be for my shed as the current solar system is kind of just thrown together on the floor not even properly wired. This new one will be properly wired in a nice cabinet on the wall with a small sub panel and designed to also act as backup power for the house once I run a feed to a separate panel inside the house too. The old system will be going in the black box below which is a portable system which I'll bring to the off grid property. Basically to charge power tools, chainsaw etc when I'll be working there. Once I actually have something built then I may swap the systems around or at least the inverters. So in a way putting that inverter in the shed will be a good way to test it and if it works well I might even just buy another. They have good reviews, but kinda have to take that with grain of salt on Amazon.

With all this spending lately I can't afford a haircut.

@Red Squirrel make sure you have a source of running water on your land if you want to do offgrid. Then food sources via hunting or gathering or raising animals and veggies by your own, therefore, running water is very important then shelter, especially during winter.

There's a lake nearby so I will be hauling water for now but yeah eventually I want to find a more local source or dig a well. There is a creek that appears to touch one of the far corners so I will have to check that out at some point. This will be more of a "camp" at first where I will rely on bringing in stuff from town, but yeah eventually I want it to be self sustaining. I know hardly nothing about growing food or raising animals so that part will be a big learning curve but I will eventually want to at very least have my own source of basic food. even if I rely on the grocery store to have bigger variety of stuff there will be a good sense of security knowing I am self sustaining. Potatoes are going to be a very good asset. You can technically survive on just that, though I would not want to do it by choice. Eggs are also a very good source of nutrients. I would probably look at what is the most efficient thing to grow/raise. Meat is very high energy because you also need to grow feed.

I already got water storage taken care of, mostly...

The challenge has been figuring out how to adapt the faucet to something that can be plumbed using normal plumbing supplies but once I figure that out I will bring them out to the property. I will want to build a water tower so they are high enough up and also wrap them so they're not in the sun. Don't want algea to grow. These had DEF fluid in them so probably won't be potable water but after running a bunch of water through them I think it will clear up. DEF is non toxic but not exactly something you want to drink either, it's basically cow piss.

Tired of rolling my own, so I bought a NAS. Mainly for a backup repository, but I may add some music and movie media to it as well.

Aggregated LAN will be great for backing up two desktops that have NVME drives.

Shorts?

Must have been taken the two weeks it doesn't snow in Canuckland.

Just admit it.

Your real plan is to do a Breaking Bad Canada edition.........instead of meth you'll be brewing bootleg Molson.

It's actually been cooling off now mostly at night, but still warm enough in the day. It was like at least 20 today. More like 30 with the humidex.

Breaking Bad Canada edition could be fun actually. Since our health care here is free, instead of doing it to pay for cancer treatment, it can be to send the kids to hockey. That can get expensive.

My 14 year old logitech speakers gave up last week, no sound from the rear channels. I found a set of brand new looking , fully functional Klipsch promedia 5.1s for 120 bucks.

Love the dirt road, really completes the look! You’re gonna need that 4x4!

Yeah the road is actually pretty decent the whole way too. All gravel once you are off the highway. You could bring a car here, if you don't care too much about scratching it (rocks flying etc). The road going to the property behind me will need some work though but it's at least a good spot to park for now. It does not go far, it's just a small area they bulldozed. I basically have like 1300 feet of frontage on the road so I can easily add more entrances if I wanted to. Like if I decided to do cabin rentals I would maybe want to do a separate entrance for those.

So, when when you have friends over, do they either revert to being 10 year olds, or, suffer from multiple uncontrollable nerdgasms?
Not too many friends or family like the figures.

Most of them don't sci-fi / horror / cartoons movies, so they usually give me hard time about them. Even my kids roll their eyes when a new toy shows up, as even they think it's a little too nerdy.

My wife's mom and dad came up for a visit about two months ago, and they were looking at my collection. They looked at Wolverine and asked "Why does he look like that?" because they only ever saw how Hugh Jackman looked in the movies. After that, they asked why I had a "demon clown" because they never watched (or apparently even heard of) Pennywise or It.

Buying toys as an adult isn't a good life, but it's my life.

Same here. My wife and in-laws are not into sci-fi or cartoon.

My son and I have been building Gundam models, aka Gunpla, for years. We have a five shelves book case for them. Not to mention another book case for our WH40k squads and several sci-fi, horror, and anime figures. They always thought I was wasting money, and taught my kid a bad habit. =/

Sigh... I had a bunch of Anime models, back in college.
Then i met someone who i thought i was gonna marry and sold the entire thing out on her wishes of not being too nerdy.

Well, didn't end up marrying her.... sold what could of been now a $40,000 collection... seeing how i had more then 30 limited hand sculpted and painted pieces directly imported from Japan.
(I had a couple of exchange student friends who i still talk to today buy stuff at Akihabra for me and mail it to me.)

And yes i regret everything.... ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! (insert little boy crying)

So PLEASE never give that collection up, unless it means filing for a divorce, and having to lose half of it in settlement.
