how is this different than a wash cloth that lasts years? washes things, can clean in laundry and use again..... this is my issue with "green" stuff. its trying to make something disposable better, when we already have something very similar and not disposable that will last many times as long and does not require anything new to be made.

Unlike washcloths, these are biodegradable, and they dry fast. They are made from some wood cellulose and cotton. A thicker actual cloth washcloth will take forever to dry or squeeze out and then dry. A thin washcloth that dries fast, the kind I've gotten before, is not biodegradable. Probably petro products too. I don't know what kind of washcloth you have that not only lasts years but is also fast drying and is biodegradable. Any suggestions?

heh?

Anything that is 100% natural fiber like cotton is compostable. and a thinner open weave dries fast. well, everything here dries fast.
this fits the bill, along with maybe 100s of others.

and cheaper then some of these new fangled ones.

advise, every time you see some new green product that "lasts longer" or whatever than some totally disposable thing, think about what your grand or great grand parents used and how that thing compares. and remember, just because it did not say " new" "green" "compostable" on the plastic package your new thing comes in, it probably was, and probably lasted longer.

Those don't seem to be very absorbent. You'd really have to calculate how much resource goes into making each different type and then seeing how much more 'green' one is. They really seem like two sides of the same coin though, just each one has a slightly different feature set. I don't know why the swedish version upsets you.

Also swedish dischloths were invented in 1949. These aren't some newfangled invention of the green movement. These are before being green was a thing.

its not the product, it's the idea that there were no alternatives before some person found this one particular thing. maybe a bad example, but plenty of good ones out there.

If they can sell enough people something with marketing gimmicks they will. Green is just another marketing term to many companies. Some new green products are great, a lot are just marketing vehicles. It's unfortunate.

My sister is very crunchy. Some of her solutions are old tech and some are newer. Her cleaning people just use rags that get washed every time, so very minimal paper towel usage for a good sized home. They use cotton napkins when eating, those just get washed in the laundry as well. Some of her cleaning supplies are vinegar based, also old tech. She uses some re usable silicone sealable bags for certain things, ziplock for others. My cousin and her use a beeswax based product I think instead of Saran wrap for some of those applications to lessen plastic use

Just arrived via UPS - a French Press and an OXO silicone spoon to help remove all the grinds with. GF likes coffee and I have no coffee maker so that is the solution, don't really have the space for a drip machine - definitely nowhere on my counters and not even in my cabinets, unless I got rid of the air fryer. I've always kinda wanted a French Press but got back into tea shortly after wanting one so never got it.

A cotton towel "isn't very absorbent" ?!?

I worked in a bar for years and I can say with absolute certainty that this is a false assertion.

Not only ARE they very absorbent but good ones will survive literally hundreds to possibly thousands of uses and washings plus are also completely bio-degradable.

The reviews say due to the fine weave it's not very absorbent. Which makes sense. For pure cotton to dry fast it can't be thick. That's why cotton is the worst for a lot of athletic activities if you don't want to stay wet in sweat.

Just going off of that.

Bought my first pocket hole jig. Kreg K320 and a big box of screws and a clamp. I'm putting some scraps to use and making a poorly made wine rack for storing wine bottles parallel with the wall as part of my basement cleanup.

i just picked up a bottle of laws bourbon. four grain. we will see how it is, my bottle of Stranahans is pretty low.

Never heard of laws. I'm hoping I win my state's liquor lottery so I can buy some Pappy's at retail. I won the 10 year a few years ago.

Kreg is the beginning of the end
there are thousands of great ideas out there.
Here are my kreg tips:
find a throw away exterior door. A big heavy flat solid core wood door to use as an assembly table.
Build some heavy horses to set it on. When not in use stand it against the wall.
You can drill the door for pins, or screw on stop blocks to assist in keeping things square. This really speeds up assemblies and keeps things flat.
here is a 5 piece set of clamps that will work over a door and 3/4" material

less than the $22 each Kreg branded

If you get into making face frames, buy a planer to keep the wood true and flat.

Renogy 2000w pure sine inverter, to upgrade my 350w on my portable solar power station. I still need to put it through it's paces within warranty period to make sure it can run everything I need such as the mitre saw, water pump and other stuff I'll need on my off grid property. The portable solar panels that go with it is only 60w but I think that will do for the most part as big loads won't tend to be continuous.

I'm going to need to build a bigger box.

I need to completely rewire/redo that setup anyway so think instead I will build a much bigger box and entire new unit and keep the small one in tact for now. I have a new charge controller on the way too, so all I'll need next is a battery. Probably put in a decent size AGM one. Going to be costly but once this system is done it will get lot of use around the property and be my main source of power at first so it's worth it.

I acquired another 150W of UV light for a total of ~640W. Time to build the permanent mineral display.
