This just came in the mail. It was actually my first silver order from like over a month ago but from a different dealer and they were backlogged on those coins.

There's a meme in the silver community about losing silver in a boating accident, and coincidentally that flyer was also in the mail lol.

Gonna splurge on this Amazon deal even though my current mower is perfectly fine. Going greener!

Nice! Actually been looking into the Greenworks mowers. Already have the 80v chainsaw and electric snow shovel.

This may be next on my list of things to buy though: https://www.amazon.ca/Greenworks-Brushless-Powerhead-Equivalent-Included/dp/B09GZH9Q6H

Going to be useful on my off grid property for putting in concrete pillars for foundations. As well as fence posts etc.

$$! Is that a typical price for that kind of tool?
(Just checked - It's $237 in AMZN USA.)

I think you pay more for electric. I've seen gas ones go for a bit cheaper. The auger bits themselves are another couple hundred bucks. But it beats digging by hand!

And yeah we get screwed here, we pay more for everything.

lulz, that thing would be useless here, The auger on my 50 hp tractor can barely dig a post hole in our soil. what is frost level there? 5 feet? No way you are getting that deep with that little thing.

also, check this out: its much better for making real lumber than a bandsaw mill.

9k. Yeah that's more money that I want to spend. The bandsaw mill I'm looking at comes up to 5k all in. (Accessories, taxes etc).

Not sure how hard the soil will be to dig but it's either I try that auger or doing it by hand. In the future I want to get into welding and fabrication then I may build my own excavator. Something that I can pull behind an ATV or something, does not really need to be super big. Frost level is probably like 8 feet but our winters are not as cold anymore so it might actually be less now. I'd probably aim for 4 feet since that's what sonotubes come in. Anything bigger and I need to start attaching multiple together. If things shift I can always just shim anyway. Not that worried for a cabin. If money was no object then yeah I'd rent or even buy heavy equipment and do it properly.

You may also want to consider bringing a gas chainsaw (maybe two), when getting the project off the ground, just in case.

You might want to finish off your garage before you think about fabricating your own excavator and building a cabin from self-milled 2x4s...

Yeah that's the plan. When weather gets nicer I need to finish that. I have a week off coming in May and will probably dedicate that week to getting progress done on the garage. It will probably be June before I can make it to the property anyway since the road is not plowed.

Hopefully these pictures won't be as traumatic to Ajay as the previous ones were.

Also:

Wife: "You already have several Storm Troopers, so I'm not sure why you needed another one?".

Me: "It's not a Storm Trooper, it's a Clone Trooper".

Loolica T31 13576 (3.5g) ~ INDICA

Total THC: 30.75%
Cannabinoids: THC: 0.15%, THCA: 30.6%, CBGA: 0.5%
Terpenes: B-Myrcene: 0.64%, Limonene: 0.36%, B-Caryophyllene: 0.13%
30% I wonder what the old ditch weed we used was. Probably around 5% but I pulled that out of my ass

I bought this sweet Nemo Arms AR-10 with scope, mount and bipod. Expensive toy and I can’t wait to shoot it.
I'm not a gun person but at first glance that looks like one of the Barrette 50 cals
My wife is not a fan of this one at all.

She said "The severed arm is just gross".

I occasionally toy with the idea of mowing the lawn myself. But even with most of the 1.3 acres overgrown with . . . stuff. I've got to slurp up some local botanical knowledge.

OK, I apologize if this sort of thing makes you uncomfortable but the first thing I wonder when you say you're going to live off the grid is - how's your someday wife going to feel about that. I'm sure some percentage of eligible females are into that, but the ratio has got be like 10 to 1 favoring women.

How does that compare to the Avocado Green mattress. I got a queen to replace the full. The old mattress was older than me. But its time had come.

mAY I offer you an interesting alternative (or addition)

edit - the coolest thing about those is that the case folds them in half for you.

I'm happy single at this point, but I have given that some thought if I later on decide I do want a partner. I would make sure I'm clear that I have no plans to move, so I would want someone who wants the same life style. I think there would be some who do, as this world is just going mad and the off grid movement, homesteading, self sufficiency etc is getting more popular. Lot of the homesteading youtube channels I watch are couples, while some are people that are alone.

At this point in life I don't think kids would even be on the agenda so that's not something I think about but if by chance it did happen, then that would pose a bit more challenges. While I would want to raise them well and teach them some useful skills around the property I'd also not want to shelter them from the outside world since no matter what they will eventually need to face it, but sending them to a school would be pretty hard given the distance. So yeah that could be tricky. But I don't think that is something I need to worry about at this point in life even if I did get a partner.

If I get to a point that I'm lonely, which could very well happen later on in life especially once my family is gone, then I'd figure something out, either look for a partner or even just a friend who wants to live that lifestyle. I have a feeling I would not get lonely though, being in nature does something good to mental health that you just don't get in the city, and you keep busy and end up being fine.

Either way I'd probably find good reasons to go to town a lot. Maybe volunteer at animal shelter, or something like that. Probably try to get out to church as much as I can too. Still need some social interaction. There are stories of people out there who have lived off grid alone for years without ever seeing a single person, but I don't know if I could do it to that extent or even want to.

You just got to find you a mountain woman, and then pitch yourselves to be featured on 'Life Below Zero'.

You can call your homestead Camp Red Squirrel.

Right now they have an Indica in stock @ $45 for 3.5g's that's 39%... they've had as high as 41% flower that I've seen.

Interestingly I don't think the super-high THC stuff is actually the best, I find it tends to be "one-note" in terms of flavor/scent possibly because of the stress to the plants of forcing it to grow so potent.

Seems like 27% to around 32% is the sweet-spot for terpenes AND THC.
