I'm always amazed at what those little Lepais can do. Anytime I find some monkey coffins, I crank them up to see what I can get! My buddy's dad had some from his stint in Vietnam & they sounded awesome! We set them up on his TV haha.
I suppose they are regarded as passé, nowadays (had to look up the term just now!) but I have nothing better. I have a couple Speakerlab kit speakers I assembled decades ago as my best speakers. I picked up a pair of floor model Yamaha bookshelf speakers, decent size, which I have in the kitchen.

My first speakers were self-assembled JBL full range LE8 8". Sounded wonderful to me...

Can I get recommendations for good licorice? I'm not sure I've ever had any. My mom loved the stuff.
Wow, that's really a tough question. The styles are very different from one product to the next, and from one country to the next. What I got above is mostly nordic salty licorice, which is my favorite, but *will not* be to everyone's taste. I'll give a small list of products I think are worth trying.

Amarelli - Small hard drops. Will probably be broken during shipping. A good throat soother, and something to keep on a desk and mindlessly grab. Not sweet aside from licorice natural sweetness. Italian. If you search amazon, you'll find lots of interesting tins. I like the vintage ones. If it says "Amarelli", they're all the same product, just different packaging.

School Chalk - Fazer and Venco are the big names. Fazer might be a smidge better, but Venco's much cheaper. A crunchy Compressed mint powder over a chewy licorice core. Dutch or Finnish

Panda - Probably the licorice you're familiar with, but maybe better if you've never had it. Just a sweet, soft, chewy licorice from Finland. You can probably find it locally.

Suklaa laku kuulat - This one may be polarizing, but I think it's delicious. It's a white chocolate/salty licorice covering over soft licorice drop. I doubt you've had anything close to it. The saltiness is fairly subdued for a salty licorice, so it may be approachable if you keep an open mind. Finland

Cachou lajaunie - This is basically Sen Sen if you've ever had that. The classic alcoholics choice for covering up liquor breath :^D Very tiny drops that just add flavor to your mouth, and freshen breath. France

Terva - Tar licorice from Finland. This is also getting into the 'you may not like this' territory, but it's very unique. A medium soft drop with lightly salted licorice and pine tar. Good for a sore throat.

Pommix - You probably won't like this. This is a salty licorice explosion. It's a mix of hard licorice, and hard caramel licorice shells filled with ammonium chloride powder. They'll make your mouth raw if you eat too many in a sitting, but these are some of my favorites. It has a bit of an old fashioned cough drop character until you get to the powder center, and then you'll either be delighted or appalled, or it could grow on you. Finland

In all cases, when I say "salty licorice" the salt is ammonium chloride, not sodium chloride, so it has a bit of an ammonia character. Also, you don't want to eat huge quantities of this stuff over an extended period. It can literally kill you. Licorice can affect your heart, and ammonium chloride is bad for you in large doses, but I can't say exactly what it'll do. It's of no concern if you're healthy, and eat reasonable quantities, but if you start gorging on it over a few days, it might not be good.

edit:
I forgot licorice All Sorts from Britain! These aren't necessarily a favorite of mine, and the linked brand is probably good, but I don't have a keen grasp on who makes the best. This is a classic English candy. Very sweet, and fairly light on the licorice. Soft and chewy. Definitely worth getting if you're ordering anyway. Your licorice tour wouldn't be complete without these. You may find them locally if you have a good candy store, or a British foods shop.

This is a self selected Valentine's present for my wife.

It is a "Wernicke Systems Elastic Bookcase" circa 1900 or so.
It has the original wavy glass in it.
She will store and display some of her quilt fabric stash in there.
It is commonly referred to as a lawyer's bookcase.
Here is some of the history. The business was open from 1893~1905 as Wernicke, and later this model was sold as Globe-Wernicke after they were acquired by Globe.

Yes the whole thing's a little bit crumbly.
The amphiboles converted to mica makes sense. Thank you!
It will be a garden rock at the new house.
That is now officially Katie's rock. I am bringing it home from the office. The two boy dogs will complete the circle of life and pee on it, I am sure.
This is the way!

I ordered one of those runners vests to put a small bottle of water and your phone in. I started running again earlier this week and the armband for my phone was driving me nuts. I would tighten it down and feel like circulation was getting cut off then have to loosen it and it would slide down my arm. Don't want to be fiddling with it while running and can't stand having things bouncing around in my short pockets. We'll see how it works out.

Maybe a CamelBack. You can't make America great if you're dehydrated, and your phone would fit in it.

I looked at those initially but I prefer to have my stuff in the front where it's easily accessible. I haven't quite figured out how to FF or Replay a song using my airpod controls so I'm constantly accessing my phone. Plus the vest was only $30.

Here is the finished product. It turned out incredible. I feel like it's a piece of art and I don't even wanna use it just look at it lol.

And it is a controller for all consoles and PC. I will be using it on PS5 primarily though.

Dunno who remembers this post above, but I've decided to try a new button layout after using this for a while. The size and spacing of the buttons is not the most ergonomic on the right side and I have to move my hand a bit to do everything, and that has caused me to miss quite a few things on reaction because I miss the button by a split second (or flat out miss it) and it has an effect on the match.

So I went with a more ergonomic one that most people rave about. It's going to take a little bit to get used to, if I can, mainly because of the buttons being 24mm instead of the standard 30mm I'm used to for the main six. But it should allow me to use my right thumb much quicker (as well as pinky which I never used before) due to the way it's laid out, all without even moving my hand.

The Katie rock came home, with the 700 pound Rotek bearing from the excavator. Good thing I have Guido the forklift.

The rotek is still smooth and can be moved by hand.
I might build it into a gazebo.
Make it with a half back wall so you can block the weather.

I have a 14' diameter grain bin to work with.

If I had better night sky I could make my own observatory with it.
It can withstand a lot of force. it sticks the 17000 pound upper unit to the 10000 pound carbody.

My own rotating restaurant?

Had time to swap panels last night and went from this...

To this...

I had some time to play around with it and was pretty surprised at how difficult it is with a new button layout. I'm going to basically have to relearn a bunch of muscle memory and right now I'm consciously thinking about it, and that alone costs me because you can't think about stuff when you have to react to things in split seconds. I am hoping after a week or so I am feeling more comfortable because there are definitely benefits to this compared to my previous layout which had me moving my hand around more.

Well, it was 3+ weeks ago but I just shot it Friday. Kicks like a mother. Especially the 700 gr hard cast that Kentucky Ballistics uses.

Left to right: .22LR, 9mm, .45ACP, 500 Magnum 700 gr.

I just got my Imalent MS32. I previously had the MS18, but accidentally broke it. Planning to test it out tonight. The PC in the background has a temporary loaner GPU AMD RX 6600. I finally got a shipping notice an hour ago for my 4090 that I had to RMA. I miss it so much. This is my second 4090 to die due to Gigabyte's fatal firmware updates. The strange reflection in the 2nd picture is lights off my reef tank.
