Well.....it is that time of year so I got some mower blades. I decided to go with some that are made in the USA so we will see how they perform. I also got some oil, air, and fuel filters on order. I'm planning on doing my annual maintenance this Sunday. The weather is suppose to be crap so no better time to get everything out of the shed and into the garage for its annual servicing. Besides the mower the trimmer and blower will also get its annual service this weekend.

I think I’ll replace the blades on my Honda this year. I sharpen them at least once a year, and while that works…they get dinged up enough that I should just buy new ones again.

I'm on an every other year blade cycle. I buy new ones then on the in between year I take them to work and use the bench grinder to "sharpen" them. I put sharpen in quotes because honestly I'm not very good at it. I've watched several YT videos on how to do it properly but yeah.....

I finally got around to doing it today instead of Sunday but the ramps I brought home from work were not tall enough......so of course my impact gun wouldn't fit.....sigh
I don't have a breaker bar or jack either so I improvised with some spare lumber I had laying around. I'm not proud of what I did but in the end I got the job done even if it was sketchy af lol

Might want to try a file. I've never done it, but it should work, just slower. Less chance of ruining the temper, or having the grinder get away from you. Use a nice coarse file that removes a lot of material.

I couldn't give two shits about my mower blades. I've literally done it once in my life for the lulz. If it knocks the grass down, I consider it good enough. Any time wasted on grass is truly wasted AFAIC.

I am by no means a turf guy. I pay as little attention to the grass as possible. No granular fertilizers or weed killers or anything like that but....and you knew this was coming. I have over an acre to mow and I've tried doing it with dull blades before and it sucks. Takes way longer and in the taller spots I have to go over it multiple times.....blah.....

Using a file to sharpen the blades is a skill I do not wish to learn.

Bet there is something cheap on Temu that could make your life easier.

But a goat would give you milk and free fertilizer.

A few weeks ago I ordered some Charles Tyrwhitt shirts and they came in over the weekend. Unfortunately I had to return them. I ordered the classic fit and they were way to baggy and too much material to tuck in. Sizing is weird. Started the exchange process and ordered the slim instead. We'll see how they turn out. I'm not a slim guy at all, but been reading that their slim should fit most builds. Bummed, was planning on wearing one of the shirts for a wedding Saturday.

I've never owned their shirts before but I feel like the quality was really good. The fabrics felt good and no stray strands anywhere. The collars felt reinforced too so they won't curl up or out or anything. Hopefully the ones I exchanged them for fit properly. They had a 3 for $99 sale but it's over now, however I think they have this sale pretty regularly.

OK, let's hear it. What is bad about chickens (other than their early morning alarm bell)?
The smell.....I grew up in a farming family were the main crops were corn and beans but they liked to dabble in raising hogs, cattle, and poultry and by far the worst was the poultry houses. So many chickens housed in a tiny little space......no amount of ventilation could help. It is not the image of it that is burned into my mind.....it is the smell of it.

Bought an ultrasonic cleaner. Not one of those dinky things for cleaning rings, etc. Mine is for gun stuff. It can do a 16” rifle barrel. Minor problem. 1 of the active ingredients in the cleaning solution I bought, according to MSDS, is hazmat. Anyway, tried doing a silencer. Did an OK job. Still needed to use a pick and a scrub pad to get off the tough bits. A key thing will be to not wait too long between cleanings. Rifle barrel will be next.

Maybe you are very smell sensitive. As a kid, I used to go INSIDE the chicken house to get eggs. Yes, it wasn't the best smell in the world but it didn't make me faint. Plus, chasing the chickens around was good exercise. Before anyone goes "how cruel!", if the chickens would just come to me willingly and let me pet them, I wouldn't have made them pant.

After mice, chickens have it worst than any of the other creatures on our planet. Millions and millions killed everyday for food. Not to mention the poor male chicks that are killed upon hatching because they are deemed too expensive to feed. No wonder humanity has so many problems. It's the bad karma from killing defenseless animals. We shoot ourselves in the feet and wonder why we can't walk normally...

The last thing(s) my husband and I bought is some candle-making stuff. Camping season is around the corner, they like to have little sales out there. Why not? Lol
